PowerColor Releases Ad for Upcoming AMD GPU

nunya bus

The Ad actually sais that THIS will be the card that brings 4k to the 99% of gamers , and if you are tired of 1080p this will be it .

And 4gb could prove to be absolutely enough , you havent seen HBM in action yet . Hell even 4gb GDDR5 cards are doing fine today ... just see the 295X2 vs Titan X , the former beats it in every 4k benchmark , yet it has only 4gb per GPU .

What I'm reading from the ad is "99% of gamers don't game at 4K, Its time to change that! because 1080p just isn't enough" implying they are going to bring 4K to the masses. I dunno...

You know, I was gonna wait for the 300 before I upgraded but after I saw they planned on rebadging half the lineup I jumped in and went Nvidia instead. Now its emerged they're doing 4GB only I'm happy I made the right decision.

Maybe AMD will challenge Nvidia in the future but it won't be this product refresh.

Don't be sure about that one rumour stating 390/390x will be a refresh. It's more likely that the other sources will turn out to be correct. I.e. 380x will be rebadged 290x, and 390x will be new silicon. Which is ok...

It's sad how we can have a debate on how to interpret English.

It's quite vague and therefore open to much interpretation. Dare I say that's the whole point of it?

the 980Ti 's are the better choice until AMD launch 8GB Fiji

unless the Fiji is cheaper than a 980.

Forget it if its dearer than a 980Ti, or on par with a titan

Being ridiculously vague doesn't seem like effective video card marketing in my opinion. O.o

Also, I thought linus struggled to get his super surround setup with the 3 8GB 290Xs to consume more than 4GB of VRAM, so... I would draw the conclusion that it doesn't really matter.

And they are re marketing this card. The problem is.

They. Have conceded that Titan X will be a better card. it does 4K and well. and so will the 980 TI.

So what I can deduce from all these Teasers . I mean terrible work again AMD, you are late! enough with the teasing... .Seriously

the Fiji card will be a 980 beater by 10% So it may perform as well as 980Ti. But it will not beat a titan (AT 4K) it may do well at 1440P but NVidia will hold the 4K crown.

I run my 2 x 4GB 290X's just fine at 4K 60fps in 80% of games, please show some evidence before make stupid claims that 4GB is an 'epic fail'. But yet you don't seem to fathom that Nvidia are charging almost £1000 for a card that isn't exactly a game changer and doesn't use HBM.

Woah woah woah, the R9 290X was marketed as being designed for 4K gaming, but the upcomming R9 390X will be getting marketed for 2440p? WTF are they thinking? Because the GTX 980 itself is already a good 1440p card.

2440p is higher than 4k

I think it would still be more viable than a 780ti. Witcher 3 hair uses tesselation which isn't strong with the that card as seen in benchmarks.

290X is already more viable in Witcher 3 than the 780Ti. Not really sure what your point is regarding Fiji.

Sorry thought the op was comparing to 780ti only to see now it was actually the 980ti. Don't understand how we can say that an unreleased card is already a better option than the other unreleased card.

Why would they mention 4K if the card wasn't able to push it. To me, this add could have said "Be part of the top 1% of gamers" and it would have been the same thing.

Lol.alot of people buying these cards (390x/halo card) will be running 1440p surround or 4k. And until dx12 running those things on 4gbis gonna piss you off. Just trying to excuse their 4gb ram

Yeah with Fiji and the 980ti, its looking like the opposite of what we had with 290x vs 780ti. the 780ti was more powerful than the 290x, but had less Vram. Now the Fiji is stomping the 980ti in leaked benchmarks from Chiphell, but has less Vram. AMD will have to put more effort into Vram management until HBM2, but damn what a flip flop from last Gen.

Why does everyone seem to be thinking it's an AMD advert? This is PowerColor's advert.

Also, everyone going on about 4GB not being enough for 4K, one GPU isn't enough for 4k. If so you need two cards, and if AMD is right about the combined Vram of DX12, this may well be what they are betting on. Either that or they know something we don't or are just actually fucking up.

because existing games are not using hi-rez , hi-quality textures; they're still in the realm of 1080p

textures can be compressed so much

Go throw 4k texture mods on Skyrim and run it on 980 SLIs then get back to me on the whole we have no native 4k tex games and Vram limitations.
