Steam download stats on Linux

So, recently installed linux, settled with kubuntu, as recommended.

I went to install tf2 and it showed 800Mb's consistently disk usage (write speed)..... this is on a few year old HDD that the system is saying will fail soon....

I go to my windows install on my ssd and try to install it.... it has max of 650mb's disk usage (write speed).....
SSD has been under medium use for about 8 months

I may have said some dum things before but even I know SOMETHING is wrong

Update: It finished installing.... at least it's read speed is a lot faster. HDD was verifying the game at around 300 Mbps, SSD is doing it at 3-4Gbps

Software for different operating systems can be different sizes, if you are concerned that the game is larger on Linux vs Windows.

That message still applies. The Linux version could be less compressed than the Windows version, so your CPU could be able to decompress it and write to the HDD faster on average. A lot of the time, the limiting factor for game download speed isn't the actual download speed from the ISP (assuming you have Gigabit) or the write speed of the SSD, but the decompression speed of the CPU.
