I'd rather get one of these: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_scat_565108_2529952011_ln?srs=2529952011&rh=n%3A565108&ie=UTF8&qid=1374211774&scn=565108&h=8ccb6f9874b3ed81fe5a278246a215920198c7a3 MSI is so much cooler than apple. And some of the very high end stuff come with carry bags and a wax seal. All that value for about the cost of a cheap overpriced mac. hmmm who buys macs again?

This is a great deal for students that want macs.

Pretty much sums it up!

I know I did something similar when i drove down across the border to New Hampshire 4 or 5 years ago to grab a white one with a student discount and no sales tax :P

Yes but they are over priced for what you get...

Depends on when you buy. If you buy a brand new model that just came out, you're usually getting a great deal by buying a mac.

The problem is Apple only updates  their models every few years, so after a while they become outdated, but the price doesn't come down. That's when they become overpriced.

Tons of people buy macs and a lot of people just prefer the OS X ecosystem.

You sir are correct, apple does 10% discount across all hardware and some software for students, So if your MBP costs more than 2k (any retina display), your probably better off getting it from Apple.

Personally, I'd take Lenovo's 15% student discount on Thinkpads over Apple.

Pretty good deal. too bad that apple gets a bad rep because half the people would get them, get them for the wrong reasons.

Would be a much better deal if it was in a couple of months when the haswell based models come out. However I'm sure they made the deal because Apple's back to school even is on where you get their usual education discount which ranges from $50-200 depending on model plus a $100 mac store/itunes/app store/ibooks store gift card.

Macs are good for what they can do...

Just don't try to do anything else because you won't be able to...

You obviously don't know what you are talking about, they use out dated hardware in general and overprice everything (new and old hardware) there is making a profit and ripping people off...
