Experiences with non-techies

Sorry if I didn't add enough text to explain what that video is showing you:

That head is moving to within 1mm of where it needs to be to read the data off that drive. My point is simply that it doesn't care how compact the data is. It can read it. They are incredibly accurate.

It's like having a mechanical arm pick up dust particles, but not just random ones, but the specific ones you tell it to and it's picking up billions of them a second.

And also since the data is more tightly packed, the read/write heads can read and or write more data with a single rotation of the disk.

Old shit no one cares about but me.

I remembered this other one. My grandma was finally moving away from her old computer (a 2.66GHz Pentium 4, a VIA P23G motherboard, and 1.25GB of RAM with an 80GB hard drive) and the guy at Best Buy was trying to swindle her into getting a computer with a mid-end Celeron instead of the one she actually got with an A6 3650. I took her to the side and told her to say "But my grandson says that that has less performance than the AMD one." So he pulled up the specs for both of them and my grandma (little as she knows about tech) said "The AMD one has 6 processor cores, but the Intel one only has 2 (I think it was two anyway). And the AMD has more RAM and hard drive." Needless to say, my grandma even put this Best Buy dork to bed.

Fun Fact: It does.

Larger capacity (which is what you mean by "bigger", I'm sure) drives spin at the same speeds, but more data moves across the head faster because it is more data in the same amount of space.

It is a very negligible amount faster, but it is faster. :P

The more ya know!

I mean they think that is the ONLY way you can make a computer faster. Like everything else does not matter.

i used to think that amd also supported physx since i was also able to run it... yea i was able to run with physx
but i found out it wasnt the 7970 card that was doing that physx calculations it was my processor, (dramatically impacted my frames)
well that's what i was told, i could be wrong.

Same with me, my dad has an EXTREMELY low mouse sensitivity so when he goes from one part of the screen to the other he swiped the trackpad like 5 times,

lol my friend was like that so I played a joke on him I told him I could make is pc way faster for him so I went to his house and turned up the mouse sensitivity and he lost his shit it was awesome

No. You're right. AMD cards don't process PhysX. It gets thrown on the CPU, whether Intel or AMD. AMD actually got PhysX licensed to them by NVIDIA, but they said no.

Too bad, I would love to see greater support for PhysX.

The stock cooler is fine for a non overclocked system, the newer intel fans run so quiet you can hardly hear them.

New intel stock coolers? I haven't heard of this.

There should be a logic test before the person can buy a computer, smartphone, tablet, or any other technology. I hate being called to fix the simplist of mistakes expecially if the person that needs my help hasn't even thought about the problem. It's like they don't even know what logic is...

I was listening to my Sennheisers in class waiting to leave and one of the "popular" guys comes up to me and asks what they are. He then asked if they had good bass. When I said it was pretty regulated and not too boomy, so he went back over to his "popular" group and started talking about my "stupid" headphones and how good their beats are

My school just got our iPads. I might enroll for the mouse squad, but I'm worried about the complaints and lack of common sense in people.

Mouse squad? I take it that's like a tech support team or something similar?
