Experiences with non-techies

Lol gt640 doesn't support sli, not counting that he said crossfire instead of sli.

That was the point...

Yeah this guy is awfull, he got an other video where he says that you can have more ram for free, all he does is making the computer think some of the HDD space is RAM.

Thiojoe is a troll, that's what he's known for.

My dad insists on keeping his old computer with windows vista with a pentium @2.5ghz and 3GB of ram. He wants me to clean the thing up without reinstalling or even getting a home premium of windows 7.

At least he wasn't using integrated graphics :P

i would like to point out that he would be better off using integrated graphics. intel hd 4600 http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=Intel+HD+4600 is more powerful than a gt 620 http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=GeForce+GT+620 nevermind a gt 210 http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=GeForce+210&id=1169.

CPU is actually possible but you HAVE to have a high enough spec laptop that allows switching of said CPU out / replacement, GPU, of course not.

i think you got this backwards. i have neveer seen a laptop with switchable cpu, but i have seen lappies with switchable gpus(alienware lappies(at least the new ones) are some laptop that can do this)

My mom just called me to ask how to plug in a USB headset to her iPad.

so? thats a reasonable question. you can use usb headsets with iPads through the usb camera connector. My grandpa(pretty tech savvy guy) does it all the time.

I had an Acer 5050 with a switchable CPU and ati (at the time) GPU. Poor thing got so hot it cooked itself while idle

you do get laptops that can switch CPUs, some shops even let you choose your cpu you want in certain laptops.

My mate said he built his own computer and made his own motherboard... He then changed the CPU he was using to an i7 from an 'AMD FX' #lol. He for some reason can't put this lie to bed :P

Then he claimed that his Mac Pro has an i7 chip in it, yet another #lol and then he was going on about the way that I only need a basic video card for games, he doesn't know about antialiasing etc and claims to be a PC gamer... hmmmmm...

But with complete non-techies, I have had many experiences. My nan for example had a Windows 2000 IBM thinkpad from before the world began. She threw it into the fire saying "Get it off me, it's going to explode" when it made the dial-up connection noise. Oh, nan.

Also, my mum works as a clinical negligence medical records analyst and she works from home using Citrix remote login. She was just working the other day when the keys on her laptop stopped working. She thought that it had been infested with an evil spirit because she had had a bad dream the night before. All it needed was a reboot.

As for my sister, she just doesn't know how to treat cables. My dad got her an iPod in March 2012. The iPod itself is fine... As for the cables however, we have spent more on Apple replacement chargers than we did initially on the iPod itself.

Some others like my mate who thought it would fix his computer by putting a password on the BIOS. He came round to mine so I could fix it and he had forgotten the password. How stupid of him.

My Granddad found my brother's Nexus 7 lying on the floor and thought he'd have a go. He was fascinated by the Android pattern unlock lock screen, but didn't realise that his multiple attempts had wiped the device lol.

umm,,, why is it hard to believe a mac pro would have an i7?

Had an argument with a dude who thought he would get better FPS on BF3 ultra with an i7 3770K and a 650ti, I have a i5 3470 and a GTX 680, he said that the game was all about the CPU and that he gets way higher FPS because he had an i7 and i had an i5... this may be true to some extent but I had a GTX 680 and he had a 650 ti O.o

Current Build: Case: Define R4 White/Window CPU: i5 3470 @4.0Ghz GPU: GTX 680 DCUII +500Mhz(Mem) Cooler: Hyper 212 EVO Monitor: Acer Monitor 1920x1080 MOBO: Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 Storage: 2TB HDD, 120GB 840 EVO (OS)

Ouch my eyes! The cable management, blue motherboard and the stock cpu cooler.

Oh and that psu is clearly overkill...

Although that being said she actually built that herself and it's not like I'm sexist but all the girls I know are incredibally tech incompetent. Also when I was building my pc (Before watching Linus) I wasn't that much better than her.

I don't see anything wrong with her build aside from the PSU being overkill, you are looking for eye candy which has nothing to do with this topic and Linus just made you a bit more picky, she might have been on a bit of a budget the first time around and as for getting the PSU she did, it might have been sponsored by EVGA themselves, if not then it was a stupid decision on her part, non the less nothing else is wrong with the build.

The stock cooler is fine for a non overclocked system, the newer intel fans run so quiet you can hardly hear them.

I found an update to the lady that smashes her Macbook Pro:

Obviously, Lamarr Wilson lives close by and when he saw that video, he went to check in on her. He facepalmed the entire time.

NO FUCK WHY WOULD YOU POST THIS HOLY SHIT.

Sorry, but for real they're rather loud (loudest fan in most systems)

Never trust my advice. Only take any and all advice from me with a grain of salt. Just a heads up.

My little brother is running his i5 3570k off of the stock cooler and his system is dead quiet even under load and I live in South Africa which is damn hot to begin with. Might be that people suck applying the stock cooler, adding even more thermal paste or something... his cpu doesn't even go past 55 Celsius.

so the fan doesn't have to go full speed even while stress testing.

Me: Ps3 doesn't play in full HD.

Friend: Sure it plays in full HD, you only need to buy a HDMI cable.

umm ps3 does have full hd with games that support it and it is true that you need an hdmi cable to be able to take advantage of it. on a side note, my cousin just got a xbox 360 and hooked it up to his tv using that horrible three-rca connector(yellow for video and red and white for audio, i cant remember what the standard is called.) and i was like dude, the graphics are horrible. for the sake of your blind dog, just get an hdmi cable to make the graphics better(they did have an hdtv) and his dad walks up and is all like"i dont know what u talkin about. it has the best graphics ever. why should i buy an hdmi cable?

Games may run at "1080p," but they're really not. The games are rendered at sub-HD and then blown up to 1080p.
