WTF titan x

Apparently the titan x has terrible double precision performance. I looked at its seemingly terrible price to performance and signed it off as a card for devs and professionals but looking at the double precision i concluded that it is useless for most professionals. WTF is this card for.

i have no idea why Titan X exists under the name Titan X. I just hope AMD gets the 390x up there to rape the living shit out of the X.

I dont quite get the vision of the Titan series, They started of as being pushed for double precision (something wish is useless for gaming IMO) So they are hybrid Geforce+Quadro.... But they have never been for gaming? But seems everyone was buying them for gaming I guess with the Titan X they have removed the CAD things and just made it a flat gaming GPU now?

 

PS - I am asking, I may be wrong.

Honestly but looking at the benchmarks, it seems to crush games in 4k even on ultra. If you are looking at running games at 4k on ultra one or two of these are one of the few options you would have.

Gamers don't need more than a 970 so the Titan X is for people who want to push a 4k screen setup and use the 12gb vram

I'm sorry, do you guys complain that a Zo6 is stupidly expensive? The Stingray is pretty fast, good enough for almost everyone. The Zo6 adds marginal improvements for what it costs, yet it still commands a whopping price increase. 

 

So tell me, do you complain that a car like that is for "people with more money than brains?" This card is no different. Its a very, very powerful gaming card. Its priced at a premium because Nvidia doesn't need to beg for scraps from the market, they can price as they please. 

 

Is that such a problem?

for another 3 months...

i totally expected the double precision to be pretty much non crippled (or atleast no where enar as much) even im wondering what nvidia are doing!

the original titan was around 1500Glops and i read this is around 200?  even my 290 hangs around 3x that...

if 4k gaming was the goal you can buy 3x 290's for the same price.

I find it perfectly reasonably priced, and this time they even managed to know what they were releasing; A no-compromises GPU for gaming at higher resolutions. It doesn't need anything other than single-precision, as that is the only thing it is intended for.

pretty much. It's more of the card they use in order to sell why the 980ti(if there's one coming) is the card to buy.

But judging by the no Double precision, I guess I'm going for the 390x

it outperforms my 290 by on average 58.4% going by thier benchmarks so hey, nvidia....sell the 980ti with the same chip for £320 and ill buy one (if it comes will all the perks amd does)

It's "reasonably priced" for what it is—Something for people who buy it to flex their wallet with, while still delivering the best performance available. Don't get me wrong, I would never spend a penny on something like this myself. Nvidia could have easily bumped the price up another $500-1000 and the same people would still buy the cards.
