When did you realize you were more advanced with electronics than others?

LudoTheGreat

This might be mine, I was 14 when this happened. We were still learning how to type on Apple IIe computers.

Damn. Imgur is blocked.

Either way, mine was when I had to extremely dumb things down, and I'm the only one with a custom rig. I'm the only one that knew about running Nvidia and AMD AND intel GPUs together. Among other things.

do they really need to make a big deal about that? They make it sound like you need to go to a mental institution :)

And this is why I am a huge proponent of homeschooling. Because smart people like us dont exactly "fit the mold" that most state-run schools want you to fit in, and then get punished for being more interested in things that dont fit their mold.

I realized this when I found myself at 14 years old, having more fun building antennas and computers while talking to 60 year old electrical engineers around the world via Ham Radio, than I did talking to the neighbor kids and playing tag.

Not that long ago..

I found out I could learn... Reasonably quick when I am interested.

6 years ago i discovered pixelarts in Minecraft and the next thing I do is find out in what format I should save my sketches (because with .jpg the file gets compressed and you don't want that with pixel perfect stuff... Anyways..)

I found myself just digging through pages comparing .jpeg to .png and .bmp and I was very interested (mind you, that was like the first year I understood English..)

So that's how I got really interested in tech and YouTube and stuff.

(And oh, you save pixelarts in .bmp, just saying ;) )

EDIT: or well, when I liked gaming a lot.. So always.

I was born as a PC gamer and when stuff didn't work on my dad's PC, it was either me or my brother who fixed it. So I guess I have always been a techie

The moment I realized I was better at technology than most people was when I was asked how I was able to access porn from the school computers in my typing class in 4th grade. It wasn't like they were asking me to see if I actually knew how to do it, but they wanted to be able to stop me from doing it again. They also thought I was fucking off in typing class since I had so much free time. Nope, I just made Mavis Beacon my bitch.

Probably when I told my neighbor who thought they had super secure access points that I could easily bypass all the protection with a MITM attack.  This dude was definitely tech savvy; he builds all his computer so...

I was a troubled kid and this was 21 years ago in a school where my graduated class was a total of 60 people. 300 or so kids in my entire school. They had nothing better to do. That is how I was treated my entire time in school. I was actually told by a teacher that they were passing me so I could go on to high school and I wouldn't be their problem anymore.

EDIT: Maths

I use to do nearly the same thing with the vending machines in school. Instead of spitting out money it would just give me as many drinks as I wanted, granted you had to pay for the first one. They finally got smart and changed the machine to a newer model after that year.

But back on topic, I guess around 10 ish when I would take apart computers and put them back together for fun (they all still worked at the end) and that I usually knew more than the computer teachers did on how computers functioned in elementary school. When I was in high school I knew a lot more than the sysadmin did (I'm pretty sure he only had his CCNA though).

When I was little, like around seven, I wouldn't read Thomas the Tank Engine, I would spend hours reading the manuals to my parents computer, and I would often take the side panel off, and not disassemble, but just examine the components.  It just fascinated me and by age ten I knew more than my parents, and could actually fluently converse with my mom's friend's husband, who was an IT specialist, about tech.

My life is consumed by CS:GO, even though I'm not exceptionally good at it.

i remember downloading full hd porn in school,my net connection was crappy and 1080p files were considered big back then so i would do that once a week and then distribute it to others

1080p wasn't a thing when I was in school. This was like 1996 when internet porn was a whole new thing. My cousin had a nice little gig. He would record porn from the porn channels, then sell the VHS tapes for money.

I just played on an old laptop and it gradually broke on me, fixed it 4-5 times, repairing internals such as installing new components etc. Built my first PC when I was 13.

I was 11 and was helping out with other people's computer problems.

Virus removals etc.

I'm a quick learner when it comes to Electronics :D

I've got some sort of weird passion that 99% of everyone on this forum must have.
