NINTENDO AND PLAYBOY JOIN FORCES TO PROMOTE BAYONETTA 2

Playboy Playmate Pamela Horton cosplays as titular angel-hunting witch.

In one of the more unusual popular culture cross-promotions in recent memory, family-friendly gaming giant Nintendo has combined forces with Playboy to promote hack-and-slash title Bayonetta 2, which was released exclusively for the Wii U on Friday (October 24).

Playboy Playmate Pamela Horton, voted Miss October 2012, donned the skin-tight leathers, guns and pistol-heels of the trigger-happy witch for a photoshoot posted on Playboy's official site.

The reaction on social media was largely positive, with gamers making light of Nintendo's squeaky-clean image:

So apparently Nintendo owns and develops Beyonetta just because it was released on a Nintendo console? Great logic people.

(Just to clarify, I'm not talking about you, GoodBytes, but rather anyone who actually believes this is Nintendo's decision)

Nintendo owns Bayonetta. They are the publisher. They paid for the game.

Apparently nintendo wants a sexier link costume for bayonetta . So i would not surprise if they involved with this too.

http://venturebeat.com/2014/10/24/bayonetta-2-link-costume/

When working on Link, the Platinum team worried about making the costume too sexy and initially covered up Bayonetta’s chest area. To their surprise, it was Nintendo who suggested the design should reveal more cleavage, which impressed the Platinum team, according to Siliconera.

they paid a publishing deal whit Sega/platinum games to make the game wii u excluse, they used that money to fund development though I'm sure Nintendo has a word when it comes to publicity of it

this is one of the greatest thing that has happened to me recently, and it happened on this forum, those involved have my eternal gratitude http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/198850-update-alex-got-his-moto-g2-lets-get-a-moto-g-for-alexgoeshigh-unofficial/ :')

i use to have the second best link in the world here, but it died ;_; its a 404 now but it will always be here

Is Nintendo really involved with this though? I mean, I see sexy cosplays from big studios all the time and the one who owns the franchise are often not involved with it.

I mean, there are some pretty hardcore Pretty Cure cosplay movies and photo sets out there from big, professional studios. I doubt whoever owns the license to Pretty Cure (a franchise aimed at little kids) would actively support it.

Didn't Sega buy the rights to Sonic porn just to be able to sue anyone who makes it? This might be classified as a parody, and that's not covered by the trademark.

Anyway, how long will it take before Anita or some other anti-gaming person freaks out over this?

Nintendo fully funded and published Bayonetta 2. It's a Nintendo game, and in fact can't even be ported to another platform without Nintendo's OK. The first game can be promoted by Sega without Nintendo's intervention, but not the second one.

No, you're wrong. Nintendo funded it directly in the same way that they fund Game Freak's games. It's not a deal. It was 100% funded and published by Nintendo, and the only thing Sega did was give Nintendo and Platinum the OK to use the IP.
