going to try out some SKYRIM!!

~snip~

Wow, that's fast download speed.

Mod the crap outta it since apparently playing Skyrim vanilla on PC is a crime nowadays and tell us how it runs, I'd be pretty interested to see how many mods it takes to pull the framerate down

You have the only NES on LTT that can run Skyrim.

Thanks ,having some issues though I could play it fine but I have to tinker with my voltages .random shutdowns keep me up until 11pm and I had to wake up at 4am ,I'll talk about this more when I have more time :(

Awww, I wish I had your download speeds. Mine are like 3-4MB/s. Do you have a data cap?

no data cap in my area, this speed is over wifi also.on my hard-wired rig I get up to 24MB download on steam its just crazy .

How tall is the GPU & Mobo when everything is hooked up? And how high are the motherboard standoffs? I'd measure it myself but I don't have a low-profile GPU and a spare mobo sat around for it

I bought a fancy little ruler just for you!

the gpu off the motherboard pcb is 72mm high

with the stand off's it is 77mm high

hope this helps!

Oh yes, I've got all the parts for a new PC bar HDD/SSD so I'm gonna throw it together tomorrow with a spare HDD I have laying around.

I'd love to see a 970 and an i5 crammed into that thing, even if you had to use an external PSU with some ghetto wiring into the case

This is looking like an awesome build! Never thought you could build such a powerful PC In an NES Case (I know about the BRIX Series of computers but thats an OEM not a build it yourself).

So top scores for packing in allot of power into such a small space!

Could do custom extensions that mount into the back of the nes so the psu can be detatched and then tuck the psu under a desk or in an entertainment center. I would love to play so seriously crazy games on a nes.

Well, a 1U PSU would be ideal for that since they look the most like laptop power bricks or even console ones. But then making sure you don't have a huge bundle of wires going into the console would need some modding

going for a clean look would only like a power brick(like a xbox) on the outside, and just a few outputs ,hdmi, optical out,and a usb.

only going to do modest gaming and emulation wii/ps2 and ever thing older(have a full hyperspin build 90gb of data without games).will be cool to play some borderlands or skyrim on the couch and wii games with my kids!

I know the main use is going to be from my wife and kids streaming netflix, prime video and playing my blu-ray rips

For that, it's a spot on build.

But wouldn't it be nice to have something like an i5/i7 and a 970 in something as small as a NES? We can dream, at least :P

More people need to be reverse-engineering console cases to fit PC parts, they'd make killer HTPC cases and they're just so small

well just did some more testing dropped the cpu down to stock and dropped the gpu 160mhz and still shutdowns. I narrowed my finds down to psu overheating or not enough watts to the gpu .I did some hardware logging and my cpu and gpu temps are fine(mid 50's until shutdowns).

going to go to my local pc thrift store tomorrow and hope i can get a cheap psu to do further testing .I do not really feel like taken my r4 apart just for the psu.
