Dell’s New Packaging Is Made From Mushrooms, Wheatgrass, and Cow Farts (Yes, Cow Farts)

The final biodegradable product Dell uses is also the most unusual. It’s a plastic called AirCarbon, only it’s completely green and removes emissions from the atmosphere. It is manufactured by drawing the carbon out of the methane produced when cows fart and combining it with air. But any source of methane can be used e.g. methane emanating from a landfill.

The finished product supplied to Dell is a plastic bag that uses no oil, stops greenhouse gases before they enter the atmosphere, and ends up being cheaper to produce than oil-based plastics. As the video above demonstrates, it can also be used to create tough plastic-like resins, so I see no reason AirCarbon couldn’t be used in the future for electronic device casings

Their desktops/laptops aren't that great, but oh God do I love their monitors!

Can't wait for the next couple years, Dell usually has the best simplistic looking monitors.

This is a lot of crap Its not green at all... It pulls nothing out of the air and requires extra energy to carry the reaction (the same amount as just making plastic normally), scientific illiteracy at its best I will link you to this video here:

Back in 2008, Dell had a kick-ass business class laptop. Had less screws, and easier access to internal, than your desktop computer. And it was solid system, thanks to it's magnesium body.

It was truly awesome peace of engineering. Than 2008 recession arrived, and no one was buying computer, so next models refresh was all about cutting corners left and right, and degrade system to what it is now. What a shame.

I wished all laptops was like what Dell did back then. It was a powerful system as well. Vista ready (GoodBytes - ready.. meaning Win7 smoothness level).

Yea. I have the E6400, 2008. Still running. In fact, my father uses with with Windows 8.1, and an SSD.

Run smooth.

What I don't like about yours, the refreshed, is that they started to cut corner. still a fine system. at the time I would still highly recommend it. But it's the little things like the eSATA port being cut rectangle, and not the shape of eSATA. There was paint problem for a moment, the LCD panel were not upgraded to what is new at the time, on the market (while still perfectly fine, you could find a bit better, and faster non-glossy TN panels), and things like that. But it does have a more powerful CPU and GPU option, which is nice, and still retain everything awesome about the E6400 design.

But the big problem is when they switch to this gray and orange ugly ass Latitude after... so much cutting, looks like a system from early 2000, Intel integrated solution, horrible back light system for the keyboard (far form even), no more nice slim and small power adapter... in fact you can't even wrap the wires around the PSU, a signature thing form Dell, to make carrying the PSU so easy, now gone, and I can go on and on.

its alot of rubbish.. If anything its more damaging that just making our own plastic from hydrocarbons like we do now. This way you need to bother collecting "air" and then give it energy to produce plastic... waste of time.
