I knew children were petty but I experienced next level shit

So I am an intern as a teacher/teaching aide.

 

Today, to celebrate my B-day there fromlast week I gave them all one of those small bags of chips (very small bags in a 15 mix pack, not sure if you know it, from Lays/Smiths)

 

So I had 4 left, came across 4 boys of my old class who are now 1 grade further (was their teacher/teaching aide last year).They were playing in the hallway, they are 10/11 years old aprox.

 

 

I give it to them, expecting them to eat it quickly and no problem.

 

What happens a bit later? Female teacher from that class comes in and says it's best not to give chips anymore to any class other than my own because apparently it caused some tension in the class room.

 

 

Really? Fighting over 20 gram bags of chips?

 

I get they are kids and the economy is not exactly well right now but jeez....

 

(So to clarify, other 20 kids who didn't get a bag wanted one badly, but those boys I just randomly encountered only got the remaining bags so yeah)

No no, I totally get you, I just find it hard to see why the 4 kids wouldn't have eaten up and went about with their lives. Randomly getting chips or candy at school because you're sitting in the hallway or what ever was the best thing ever. I don't think it ever caused problems with anyone when I was in primary school, just a happy coincidence.

*shrugs* because when I was in school I was a vindictive asshole lol. I specifically remember this one girl in 8th grade who was probably the most annoying person in the school. When our history/social studies teacher let us watch black hawk down (yeah try pulling that off in today's political climate lol) she was rooting for the somolians, seriously, everyone in the class (including the teacher) tried to explain to her after watching the movie why we where there, she didn't seem to care, just "war is mean!" crap. lol
