Bench marks on thwe gtx 980 and 970, aswell as the mobile cards. looks as if the 980 will beat the 780 ti by just over 1000 on 3DMARK fire strike(not OCed).

Might have to pick one up

I am still betting against there being a 980ti. Historically there havent been many flagship Ti models. The 780ti can be looked at as a bit of an anomaly.

The only reason there was a 780ti is because AMD launched the 290X. If AMD doesnt do any major updates soon we probably wont get a 980ti.

According to all the benchmarks and specs the 780ti will still perform better than the 980, if not equally.

Tell me if this has been posted, couldn't find anything about it so far.

really how did you end up with that conclusion seeing 980 sli still lower than 295X2 which is 290X crossfire that is lower than 780Ti, and then you seem to miss out that these are overclocked not base clock, finaly you seem to miss out that the graph is just playing with number not a real bench, they just took the specs, and scall it according to what an overclock should do. from the specs 980 will sit between 780 and 780Ti, which means it will be basicly 290X perf, anyway  another week and we will see.

Repost...

Kind of upset that a 970 will be besting my 780, but I guess that is why they decided to "skip" a generation.

I doubt it could use more than 4GB of VRAM being only marginally better than a 780 Ti.

If this is released for $500, I'll probably jump on it. If it's anymore, I'd rather just pick up a 780 for SLI.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

correction: it beats the 780ti by about 300 points not 1000.

Wondering where AMDs options will land. I have a feeling AMDs 300 series is gonna hold the performance crown this generation, since nVidia doesn't seem to be setting the bar very high.

Nvidia is waiting so see what AMD does and re-release Maxwell on 20nm for the TI cards, leaving them with much higher core counts and such. Nvidia is going after the mobile market to stay relevant against AMD's laptop APUs and Intel's Broadwell Iris 6200. For that they need lower TDP than ever and more performance than a 2TFlop iGPU while still being on 28nm. Good luck Nvidia.

I hope you're right, this is pretty lackluster and disappointing. Literally the same price:performance. Might as well get a 780ti now.

well even if its bad

remember maxwell has actual DX12 features while current cards have the "low level api"

So far, Microsoft has mentioned only two DX12 features that will need new hardware: new blend modes and something called conservative rasterization, which can apparently help with object culling and hit detection. Neither of those additions sounds hugely groundbreaking, but as Tamasi hinted, they may just be the tip of the iceberg

http://http.developer.nvidia.com/GPUGems2/gpugems2_chapter42.html

example of such features

Direct3D in itself is a low level API. Why would it be bad that it's what it is supposed to be?

as i said

the low level api is just one of the many features DX12 will bring

for dx11 cards they will only have the low level api

while DX12 based hardware will have many more features

one should buy maxwell even though the performance one be that much of an improvement
