Zalman T5: Less fans, more metal&quality, at £20

brownninja97

ZM-T5_02eng_01.jpg

Following in the footsteps of the R1 this is another reserved looking case from zalman. You lose 2 fans for BRUSHED METAL, not sure which metal but at £20 its now the cheapest brushed metal case, im not gonna say brushed aluminium as zalman havent said that, ill contact them to see its true material when i get a chance. Its also hitting the market tomorrow.

ZM-T5_01kor_06.jpg

There is a front vent, not an amazing one but this isnt a case aimed at titan users. Probably go up to a gtx 670 or a 270x in this case.

ZM-T5_01kor_04.jpg

Thats what i meant by less fans, used to have three fans, now one, its a generic zalman fan, expect 17.8cfm at 1300rpm. Do watercooling advise is said but im sure you could put a 120mm in the front or the side panel, the panel will support it as its steel.

ZM-T5_01kor_12.jpg

Metal is now rolled, all metal compared to most, also a thicker paint job and cable routing is slightly better, meaning slots for the cpu power instead of dremel and blood.

The motherboard plate is also a lot more stronger, the T4 used to have problems with the plate wobbling with big coolers, thats not longer a problem.

ZM-T5_01kor_14.jpg

The usb 3.0 uses a pass through cable, at this price range they dont have a choice sadly

ZM-T5_01kor_22.jpg

Need i explain, this. If you cant see the picture then thats a problem.

ZM-T5_01kor_24.jpg

Not something i was expecting at this price range but there are minor sound dampening measures in place.

ZM-T5_01kor_20.jpg

Gpu support up to 300mm

examples:

7990 reference cooler: 307mm

gigabyte windforce 3x 780ti: 292mm

zalman cooler(in picture): 291mm

Cpu support up to 160mm

examples

hyper 212: 158mm

noctua nh-d14: 160mm

ZM-T5_01kor_29.jpg

Contents of everything inside. The rubber feet you see are different from what you saw above, these can be put wherever you want, no clue what id do with them. Also 4 stand offs are already installed and you get another four if you arent using a itx motherboard.

20 pounds? It looks pretty good imo. It's small, so not much cable management. But once again. 20 pounds :o

I know it's budget and all, but it looks horrid IMO. But then again, the same can be said for most Zalman stuff.

I know it isn't brushed metal, but you can get an NZXT Source 210 for the same money in the US, which is arguably a much better case.

wheres the brushed metal?

front panel according to zalman, i think it looks less noticeable because its steel instead of aluminium.

Do you think the Z11 plus is ugly?

Ugly? No, if I thought it was ugly, I wouldn't have bought one :P

I liked it because it was different. The internal setup is balls, but it is a cool looking case in it's own right.

Indeed,  they need to be more uptodate with the internals.

Pretty good for £20! This would be a nice case for a first time modder I reckon. Cut out a side window, cut out the top for a rad/AIO cooler and a few other things.

https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=Oz3ExclfPeE my unboxing and short review of this case. it's old case but still pretty good for ultrabudget builds

Daewoo Lanos 1.5L 8V, 1998, green = Better graphics than NFS in VR.

Otherwise my daily rig is some oem pcchips motherboard with intel 486-dx2 in it overclocked to 100mhz and watercooled with astonishing 24MB RAM and superb S3 Virge DX graphics with 4MB of VRAM for best performance in heavy 3D apps and games and with 850mb WD Caviar 4200RPM HDD for maximum storage space and speed.

Running  Windows 95 OSR2.5 with IE4 for amazing internet browsing experience

all this in glorious desktop case in elephant bone color.

For $30 Ive seen worse.
Though it does seem oddly... tall, look at the picture with the motherboard. Whats with the big open area above the motherboard? Its not like you can fit a Radiator in there since there is no fan mount.
