I notice @jakkuh_t is finally outputting the PPD I had expected from the start.

"power limited", how dare you utter those words in this forum!

oops... I should not tell my laptop that you said that... my poor laptop decided that it did not want to run at the full 80W for the GPU, and power-throttled (?) the GPU to 30W for a couple of days. A million and a half reboots later, it decided to release the limits and I am now back to 3-3.5MPPD (compared to 200KPPD-250KPPD on GPU).

Hi, I hope everybody is having a nice weekend 🙂

Does someone know whether it's normal for my gpu limit to be "utilization limit" and not power/voltage limit ? Shouldn't it keep boosting as long as there is enough thermal headroom ? Cpu doen't seem to be the bottleneck just chilling at 30% load...

Utilization limit basically means there is no limit active, there simply isn't any demand for more by the program that's running.

This just gets weirder.

Gaming rig stays consistent on utilisation, other box its all over the place on this WU.

It consistently performs worse and with lower power consumption (~50W less on the peaks right now), every time it gets this project, compared to my gaming rig.

I know the sheet shows event points.  I'd be curious at the end to see the WU count of each person added to the spread sheet.

I'll still be near the bottom, but I'd find it interesting to see, and see if the WU rankings purely match the point rankings or deviate a bunch.

That is usually included on the final update, see here for last year's final ranks for example

@LAR_Systems You doin okay? Your PPD has dropped to zero!

Had to go out of town, so all work was finished then machines offline.

I'm back now, will be ramping back up over the next 24-48 but yeah, bummer it worked out like this with Folding Month.

Yeah OpenCL is a nightmare and doubly so with AMD and their ROCm.

CUDA is generally a breeze at least on Fedora, except a few days delay usually before it will work after a kernel update due to it being a third-party packager, easily solved by just delaying updates or just not rebooting until you've seen CUDA get updated.

The folding month curse strikes again...

I spent the night/morning in hospital... This is unrelated with my recent COVID test, let's just say I'm sustained an injury. I experienced chest pains and passed out on the stairs. After a battery of testing there's no cardiac issues they can see but going to see a specialist to have a long term monitor to keep an eye on it. No breaks but I've sprained an ankle and have some inflammation in my tendons in my knee which is rather painful. Have not slept, going to try to sleep in the day but we will see how that goes. I'm hoping to sleep and do the blog post as usual, but if that doesn't happen @cbigfoot will most probably do the daily stats.

As someone who has had two totally unexplained seizures (well one of the times it likely was triggered by gastroenteritis)  and almost died because both times I swallowed my tongue, you have my sympathy.

The second time I was paralised from the waist down for several hours which weirdly wasn't as scary as you'd think, I just "assumed" I would recover.  The scary part was the hospital talking about discharging me before I even recovered function of my lower body and them not believing it was a fit, saying I "passed out" which they didn't know because both times the ambulance took so long I was alert again before they arrived, only because my mum was there and unblocked my throat.
