So as expected, Shadow closed down when it detected I hadn't interacted with it for a while. 😞

 

What's the point of them selling a Pro tier as "you can do anything" if you can't leave it alone doing work?

The thought had crossed my mind, but I'm sure it crossed theirs too and would get the account banned.

 

Seems its safer to just shut it down when I go to bed, though if they are monitoring for a routine that could easily catch me out given my unpredictable hours.

 

Its all a bit silly as being their top-tier, what if someone was rendering a large video export?  It also doesn't seem to hibernate when it closes, which is a doubly bad decision for a Pro service where you could lose important data.

I’m sad because I have to travel on Sunday and can’t let my computer running unattended. So it’ll be less 30 to 40 WUs / day 😞

My Ryzen 3 3100 is up and running! Its currently a mainboard with an ancient ATI gpu sitting on a desk, but its folding!

These mighty 100K PPD might even get me another place closer to the top 100 in the remaining time of the folding month.

 

Also a good friend told me he will go through the old PCs his former roommate left behind and see if there is a working graphics card in there that might help me rise that number a little. The ATI is so old and weak, that the folding client simply ignores its existence. (Rightfully so. I am glad its still working at all, folding on it might just kill it.)

In my usual fashion I read the daily update seeing all the names I recognize from this thread. Laughing maniacally about those I'm going to pass one day like @TVwazhere and @Heats with Nvidia...

 

but then movement in my peripheral vision made me check the rear view mirror and I see @WaffleMachine @Blackfish11 and @MatchMaker22 stalking me... each of them with eyes glowing from the darkness. Fixed upon me watching my every move for a moment of weakness  where I throttle down my Nvidia hair dryer so I can get my fix: punching a dodo bird in the head and taming it only to have it quickly killed by a passing dilophosaurus ... one pair of eyes glowing Red like the fires at the foundries producing AMD chips. The next set Green like dollar signs in the sockets of Jensen Huang. Finally, the eyes of my biggest threat, glowing Blue and bright like a sign that reads 'Good Vibes' from Wish.com...

Just FYI, if I am ever too much, just tell me to shut up lol. I have a kid and our thing is making up goofy stories all the time. Things that seem completely out of left field and are barely tangentially related to the topic at hand are my 24/7

Be aware, since a couple of hours ago i have an additional cpu outputting something in the neighbourhood of 0,1M PPD! So it will take you at least a couple of minutes more to overtake me. Take that!

The only thing I have left to throw at you is a laptop so old I can't remember the processor. Something like a core duo U2XXX that is pushing 20 years old. I don't know if it is even capable of folding. It would probably produce basically nothing but I come from a land of climate crisis deniers who chant burn baby burn as the soundtrack to my life and the electricity is intentionally cheap to encourage us to waste it so we won't see the need to mandate more efficient appliances or install renewables.
