Not counting all of linus' sponsor spots, do you strive to remove all ads from all services you use, from premium ad-free subscriptions to ad blockers on web browsers.

Everything except web browser ad blockers. I'm not opposed to them. It just seems I don't frequent any sites where it's bothersome for me, or I would again in a heartbeat. I tend to go on Google news, Amazon, and a few forums and that's about it. I'm not aware of any intrusive ads on a day to day basis.

Ads in Youtube didn't bother me when I casually watched occasional videos. Once it started being my main watched platform, over Netflix even, then I started happily paying for Youtube premium family.

I don't play a ton of mobile games, but if I enjoy something for more than a day or two, and there's an option  for <$5 to remove ads, I always will. It's as much about supporting the dev as it is about removing ads.

Edit: TL;DR I don't just remove all ads out of principle. But if they become bothersome, I do what I need to do.

Huh? Linus' sponsor spots?
I got Sponsorblock for those as well. No sponsor.

Yes, I "live" ad free. On all my devices.

On my phone, I still have Vanced installed. Planning to switch to ReVanced soon. Mobile browser has adblock built-in too. Blocking ads straight on the router as well, meaning mobile apps have no ads.
On my PC, it's the same, with ublock and all.
I'm a filthy pirate through and through. Not ashamed about it. The few websites that shove 10000 ads on you, making the content of the page nearly impossible to see and infect your device are to blame.

I try to. I have YouTube Premium (and play old LTT as background noise when not watching anything specific 😉), I have Hulu, Paramount+, both as ad-free. I do tend to fast forward through YouTubers as the drone on and on for their sponsored spots. Keep it short and to the point. If the sponsored spot is over 45-60 seconds I am most likely fast forwarding through it.

I do not use any type of ad-blocking software though. Creators, artists, and journalists deserve to make a living for there work and I tend to view those as almost stealing from the artist/creator/journalist.

The internet generally has two types of users. Those that give (content creators) and those that take (everyone else). If the content creator uses an ad based model to make a living and I block that out completely now I am taking their hard work, and they are getting nothing in return for it. 🤷‍♂️

Yes. Why? localised ads.

Most websites use adsense or other form of service that shows you ads based on your IP address, and ads in my country suck, they're cringeworthy and annoying flashing boxes of nonsense and even (this is the point my patience was over and I decided to eradicate ads from my browser) popup autoplay video ads with sound.

I built a PiHole box on a slim case and use that to filter out most crap, and whatever isn't filtered is catched by uMatrix.

Can't pay for anything that's charged in USD/Euro/any other currency that isn't hyperinflated monopoly papers so I must find alternative ways to a) get rid of ads, or b) get my pirate hat.

i feel im missing something here, i use chrome + ublock and i don't see any ads (except when they're actually part of the website,  but then I don't think those can be blocked at all, unless you would block *all* pictures? ) so i don't really understand why you would need this kind of setup?

That reminds me i need to disable chrome updates (again) because they're soon going to change something that will make ublock stop working 👀

Yes i have adblock on everything i can. On my pc, laptop. I also sideload apps on my

iphone that have the ads removed. I did pay for youtube premium for a little while, however with all the sponsor segments and subscriber begging youtubers do these days i found youtube premium wasnt worth it. I also use sponsorblock on all my devices.

Sponsorblock go brr

I've run PiHole + UBlock/Adaway/YT Vanced, etc. for years.
I almost never see ads. Don't understand how people continue to use YouTube/Google search/etc. with ads.
It's always funny when people without adblock join the wifi and wonder why they can't click on the first ad results on Google.

I hate subscriptions, refuse to use anything that's a subscription if I can. I'll still support LTT by buying stuff from the store but not through premium/floatplane.

why no dark mode?

I want to run a PiHole, I haven't been able to actually get one yet.

I HAD to buy YT Premium for my phone. -____-; The ads were so bad, I just couldn't handle it anymore. It was Premium or entirely stop using the service.

BBC's news app is getting pretty bad; so many 'in app' articles are actually hyperlinks to articles on their website with this obnoxious popup that I can't seem to get to f*** off, so I'm getting pretty close to uninstalling it. F*** the news anyway, none of it is positive anymore. D:<

All ads are blocked on my desktop computer unless they're built into the video, but I usually just look for the thumbnail where it ends, and skip to that.

On my phone, if I'm reading an article through Facebook, I'll deal with the ads sometimes unless they're really obnoxious. Otherwise I open the article up in Firefox Focus.

Rant: Hate the fact that if I'm reading something while the page is still loading, my view changes as the content loads, including ads. I also hate auto-play videos that become a little thumbnail in the corner as I keep scrolling. Or when audio starts playing in the ad and I didn't put my phone on silent or turn down the audio.

Yup I had ads on websites. I use uBlock Origin and Ghostery. I pay for YouTube Premium. Pay extra for ad free video streaming.

About the only time I see ads is watching sports and I tune out commercial breaks. I guess sponsor spots in videos also count as ads, too, but I tune those out as well. I have never bought something because of a sponsor reading.

Yeah I block them bitches. I currently use Chrome and Safari with ad blockers. Once Chrome goes to crap ill probably switch to Firefox. Ive considered network wide ad blocking, but it doesn't work on Youtube and I live with old people and dont want to have to deal with sites that dont work and having to white list stuff.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
