My thoughts

i am 99.99% certain that it is a scam. From all my knowledge of buying on aliexpress, where you see multiple types of these boxes, all promising High value goods. Ranging from Macbooks, Gaming laptops, Iphones, VR headsets. 

Each one having a couple hundred reviews all 5 star, and zero 1-2 star reviews. showing that it is in fact a scam. which will be known a few months later. when all the actual items arrive.

 

Disputing these type of items is also near impossible, as it is hard to proof that the seller scammed you.

 

The reason the seller does not accept "Returns/Refunds" is because he knows that it is a scam, thus not wanting to deal with the dispute process, which will still happen, and he then has to take back the "scam" cards, and refund the buyers.

The only thing thats new, would be that many news-outlets claim its Amazon.JP itself, but from what i can find its a seller that sells trough Amazon.JP

 

Thus many news outlets give False/Fake information.

The only 1 star review the listing currently has being hidden, is also quite suspicious.

In my country this kinda crap been around for quite awhile.
Usually there's a review or two saying they won big etc etc, which I'm sure either bought review or the seller's friend. As usual.

If someone believes and lose a fortune because of it, all I can say is ...

At least loot boxes in game have some sorta "RNG" programming in the game system.
Instead of purely relying on a questionable stranger's integrity.

I'm gonna be the devil here. If they do ship out shit that is in the ballpark of having a value of paid price, they ain't scamming. Do they promise high-end cards? Yes and if they can prove they have send someone RTX 3090 or whatever, they ain't scamming.

It would be different if they were selling RTX 3090 for $100 and you got GT710 instead, that would be a scam. But if you paid $100 for a chance to get RTX 3090 out of a pile of GT710's and GT710 is what you got, shame on you.

I have a friend who got lucky once (his first box from the machine is an iPhone), but I never gave a dime into such stuffs

 

But it's all probability anyways, the seller in the end still wants to make a profit so the odds are definitely against you
