No, that's a legit Windows system. It's just inside the case of an old PowerMac G5.

i keep only the essentials as well, chrome, teams, anti virus, whatsapp, ok so maybe not essentials but definitely all useful stuff for a power user

image.png

Imagine everything i have written in a Linus Voice/ linus tone (Spock live long and prosper gif here ,idk why tho, i guess i just want to say that i like star trek and am waiting for new seasons of the ongoing shows), But seriously, a lot of what i type only makes sense when said in a Linus tone from an older ltt video (circa 2017-2019 & now 2024-onwards) basically before he got a beard and a lot of it should make sense even in a Linus with a beard face.

also note as per the latest typing test on my laptop, my accuracy is 69%

I'm not weird/creepy, I'm just observant I have ADHD and am not on any meds for it.

Only file explorer and FF pinned. I hide all the shit Microsoft puts on my taskbar(Weather, Search, Task View[I use win tab for that]).

That's a bit some clutter on the right side.. Do you actually use that? I personally don't, and thought most don't too.

I am getting pretty fucking sick and tired of the "watch something else" responses. It's such a cop out answer because you could say that about basically anything, and it doesn't address the actual complaints. People use it as some kind of card they pull when they can't actually respond to the criticism raised but they still feel like they need to defend some company/person. If you don't like this thread then stop reading it. See how stupid it is? It's basically like telling someone "shut the fuck up". It's not a clever responsive, it doesn't address anything said, and it is rude.

These are pretty much my "open on a daily basis" programs (F@H mainly for the events nowadays).

image.png.c9b9730e24d839c8b96f2e4b6607977b.png

I don't actually use all programs on a daily basis, i.e. I'm not drawing each day, or design a vector image, or a PCB/schematic (3rd, fifth and sixth icon respectively), but I use them often enough I just want to have them open at all times. Maybe I should just use my startup folder for these at some point.

I have bunch of more programs in the start menu, which aren't 'daily' uses, but often enough to easily click on them to open.

Some programs do get added/removed from the taskbar periodically, once I realize I don't actually use it daily (anymore).

My desktop is pretty messy, but I always have programs open so never actually see it.

I'm a nerd who runs Wayfire with no dock or taskbar. I have a panel at the top that shows the time and volume, but that's about it.

To switch between applications, I press a hotkey that nicely lays out all windows that are currently open, and I click on the window I want to switch to. Confusingly, this action is named "Scale" in Wayfire:

image.thumb.png.d44cc97e47e448d509817efce61027ef.png

To open applications I have another hotkey that opens nwg-drawer. My setup is basically GNOME Desktop but without the GNOME Desktop.

I never understood the need for an always on screen dock or taskbar, I've been using GNOME and recently Wayfire without one for years.

(btw I wouldn't recommend using Wayfire if you're not prepared to experience random crashes and a barely functioning desktop that needs a lot of complicated setup, and I still haven't figured out how to change the default wallpaper which is stretched to hell on my 10:16 portrait monitor, just use GNOME or KDE for something that works)

Not many, though.

The highest end chromebooks we have here are a bunch of amd lpddr4 laptops (lenovo), but the resolution is still too high for its vega gpu... smh

The ones most of my classmates have to stick with is a weaker celeron one (acer) with barely any ram, which funnily enough runs better for its age and display.

Isn't ChromeOS supposed to run on Low Spec Hardware that Most Mainstream Linux Distros out right refuse to install on?
