Which soda tastes the best?

MultiGamerClub

Seeing as im from norway, the "best" here must be Urge.. And somehow it doesnt taste the same as "Surge" from the US.. Ive tested haha 😛

Also, Dr Pepper.. If i ever have the chance to ship that drink from the US or amazon i fucking will! Love that drink!

Which soda do you enjoy or like the most?

Was originally going to create this thread and ask about christmas sodas..

But one google search and i found out its a tradition in norway, oh well.

Used to drink and love tons of pops. Yes, pop, not soda! Nowadays I mostly stick to Dr Pepper or a cherry cola (Coke, Pepsi, or even Cheeriness).

I gotta hand it to Dr Pepper for the best zero/diet taste. To save on calories and avoid all the sugar, I will drink Dr Pepper Zero all day, every day.

OK there's several parts to this.

I have to separate it out like you, but I've got some different categories

Best refreshing soda on a hot day: Sprite

Best just brown soda drink: Coke (Zero is better tasting than diet if you are diabetic or need to lose weight)

Best flavorful soda to enjoy: Cheerwine (found in the southeastern US and it's freaking amazing!)

Best Drinking Root Beer: Barqs

Best Float Root Beer: A&W

Best Ginger Ale: Canada Dry Blackberry. If you haven't tried it, you definitely should. usually just found in 2 liters

Best Makes me burp soda: Root beer or vanilla coke, not sure why vanilla makes me burp more than regular but it does.

Best Warm Soda: NONE, but if you need a warm drink for winter, look up Wassail. There's mostly alcoholic recipes, but if you're like me, it's a proportion of apple cider, orange juice, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves and i think nutmeg stirred with it while it boils. you then strain out the spices and you've got a lovely body warming drink that is soooooooo good

Here's 2 versions I found that were closest to what I have written down at home

Henry Weinhard changed the formula recently as the manufacturing was taken over by a new company (Molson?).  It's no longer the same stuff anymore. Now it's just bad.

None, they all taste like malted battery acid.

(I gave up soda a very long time ago, but when I did drink soda, I was a fan of ginger ale from a small joint called "Northern Neck Ginger Ale" who used to use real ginger in their soda, before being bought out by Coke (IIRC) and going to shit)

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

Dr. pepper, anything else is a wrong answer.

Dr. Pepper was created in a town about 75 miles north of me, in the 1880s. Great soda, certainly one of my favorites but I’m fairly partial to a good root beer as well.

I really like A&W Cream Soda.

But pretty much any liquid sugar does it for me.. Pepsi was my fave, but they changed it too many times, I don't even buy it anymore.

My favorites are pretty much any root beer brand, Dr Pepper, and most Faygo flavors.

If you're unfamiliar with Faygo, it's a regional thing, highly recommend trying to order it one day, Rock & Rye is the bomb.

I am a connoisseur of soft drinks - though I prefer sugar-free ones.  "Best" has to be broken down by flavor--for the most part.  And virtually every soft drink has an ideal mixer to go with it (some have several).  There's also regional flavors, and I want to try more of them--but I don't even know a lot of them.  All brands have a brand distinct aftertaste--that is the same across every flavor of that brand.  Pepsi's is horrible.

Cola:

Jolt is dead.  Coke 2/New Coke is dead.  Coke Zero is my standard pick.  Pepsi is nasty.  Mixes with Bourbon, Whiskey, Rum, Drambuie, and a lot of things.  Also a huge life hack is to take a 16oz or 20oz plastic bottle of Coke Zero, open the lid, drop in a bite-size Cherry Jolly Rancher, twist the lid back on before it bubbles over...and then let it sit in the fridge for 30m or so (shaking occasionally to stir).  And Viola!  Cherry Coke--Jolly Rancher style!  No other cherry coke will ever taste like it!

Cherry Coke:

Signature Select Diet Cherry Coke.  Only found this one time at Safeway in Alaska.  Stuff tastes like Nerds candy.  Glorious.  Cherry Coke for everything else.  Mixes with whiskey.

Citrus:

Arctic Sun Faygo is dead.  European 7up Free is the best you can find (not the USA stuff).  Diet Ruby Red Squirt is a close 2nd. Mountain Dew White Out is probably 3rd.  Sprite Lite is trash.  Grapefruit or mango vodka for best results.  Southern Comfort also works.

Citrus yellow:

Diet Mellow Yellow.  Mountain Dew--only if there's literally nothing else.  Pineapple Faygo/Fanta is great also.  Grapefruit or mango vodka for best results.

Fruit:

Tahitian Treat.  Most others are trash.  Mixes with anything that will compliment the fruit flavors.

Cherry:

Cheerwine.  This is regional to southeast USA.  Cherry Fanta is a close 2nd.  Mountain Dew Code Red is a distant 3rd.  Mixes with a lot of things.  Hpnotiq, etc.

Orange:

Mountain Dew Livewire.  Minute Maid if you can't find Livewire.  Mixes with Psang Ambon, surprisingly--and anything that will mix with citrus.

Root Beer:

Anything that is sassafras, sarsaparilla, birch, etc.  Dog & Suds if you can find it.  A&W if you can't find that.  Barq's is a pinch in a backup.  Stay the heck away from Mug.  Mixes with Kahlua--super sweet, but amazing.

Ginger Ale:

Vernors.  Everything else is only "if you can't find Vernors".  Mixes with Jameson.  Probably a couple other things too.

"Pepp"

Diet Pibb Xtra--hands down.  Dr. Pepper cannot hold a candle to it.  Mixes exceptionally well with Malibu Rum, Malibu Passion Fruit, Bacardi Tropical, or any other similarly tropical flavored liquors.

Grape:

Sparkling Grape Juice, honestly.  Fanta Grape if you can't get the real stuff.  There's not too much difference between most artificial grape flavors, imho.  I don't really know what else to mix it with other than Peanut Butter Whiskey and going for a liquid PB&J.  It's not for everyone though.

---

Mixed and oddball flavors worth mentioning

-Diet Red Drop Big K - this is diet Code Red Mountain Dew incognito.  Highly recommended.  Mixes fantastically with Ole Smoky Hunch Punch.

-(Coca-Cola Freestyle Specific) Diet Pibb Xtra Cherry.  This is the nectar of the gods.  If I had to pick 1 flavor above all others as the best--this would be it.

-Moxie.  You've probably never heard of it if you don't live in northeast USA.  It's like some unholy mix of coke and sassafras.  I would love for it to migrate down to my area.

-Dr. Pepper Zero Cream Soda.  This is Butter Beer available for mass purchase.  Ask any Harry Potter fan.
