Other than the wires and the sticker on the cooler, I personally think AMD/Intel stock coolers look pretty comparable :P

But I think it's just that we're all used to seeing Intel stock cooler in so many system over the past 10+ years with them having little to no innovation.

I'd bet if they  sleeved the cable, made the logo sticker simpler and maybe made the clips a bit less big, an Intel stock cooler and AMD stock cooler would look just about the same.

Well one could make the argument that if Intel actually put effort into making their stock coolers look nice and function well then people would actually use them. There are plenty of people out there who use and like the stock AMD cooler because they look really nice (especially the wraith prism), and function just as well as any other cooler you could buy separately for around $30-40 (provided you don't care about overclocking).

I mostly speak from my own past experience from similar problems. My solution may not work for you, but I'll always try my best to help as much as I can. If you want me to see your reply, make sure to quote my comment or mention me @WaggishOhio383, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

They may be in the mindset that they already have the manufacturing infrastructure for the coolers and don't want to invest into changing it

Why did you use a run-on sentence and terrible punctuation?

Not trying to me mean or silly.

The answer to that is the reason why Intel uses that exact stock cooler.  They figured that the amount of time and effort into their cooler was commiserate with it's use and value.  It cools enough for stock use.  It does it's job, enough to get by.  Just like you got your question across with minimal effort.

Ehhh... If you put moneyinto it, people will use it. Wraith coolers are always better than the Intel stock coolers. People use the wraith coolers.

Because they want to charge 20$ more for .10c more product. linus gave me the idea of using sharpie on the cooler.

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

Because box coolers are mostly used in budget or low cost systems or workstations where they just work. They may not win any beauty pageants, but they cool the CPU's well enough. And cost little since they are mostly just extruded chunk of aluminium or at best chunk of extruded aluminium with copper core. No heatpipes, nothing. Intel did make about the same ugly stock coolers with vapor chamber in the middle instead of solid copper core, but they only came with Extreme Edition CPU's back then.

Because they're old and it's cheaper to keep producing old stuff that works, instead of inventing new stuff.

funny thing is, they did actually remodel the cooler for 10th gen

It exists to do the basic job of cooling the CPU.  Not really intended for anything beyond that.
