iPhone XR Dominates the iPhone Market

3 hours ago, DrMacintosh said:

The iPhone XR accounted for 38 percent of all Apple’s US handset sales during the first three months of this this year, according to a market research company.

Damn, son. XR selling like hotcakes just like the late iPhone 5C.

Cheaper iPhone versions sell good.

let that sink in for a moment...

I don't know if I'm the only one, but reasonable for phone that most people use to watch videos, make calls and use services like snapchat, instagram and whatsapp ends IMO at $200-300 because todays offerings at this price point are very good.

But I don’t want or need to save money? That’s why I buy an iPhone.

Then why not buy the objectively better iPhone XS?

A "reasonable" price for the XR given the specs would be more like 450 for the base model and 550-600 for the top version. 750 bucks gets you a Galaxy S10. Or a new, top of the line Note 9.

The only reason the XR exists, is to make the 200 dollar upgrade to the XS look like a good deal.

@DrMacintosh please can you update the title - your post is about the XR "dominating" (though to call 38% dominating is definitely a stretch) iPhone sales, not the smartphone market as a whole.

@DrMacintosh your title edit was not sufficient to clarify that the market that is dominated is just the iPhone market, not some segment of the wider smartphone market. I have updated the title for you - feel free to tweak it, but don't just change it back. If you want to discuss this, feel free to send me a PM.

Essentially.

iCloud Drive is very much like Google Drive and DropBox, just much more integrated. It's also used for iCloud Photo Library and iOS Device backups and other iCloud Services.

True and not true. It is worse in sense that you get only 5GB (since 2011.) of storage which is not enough to backup anything, especially if you have multiple devices. You are basically forced to pay for more, hence why more users buy it. Hence why I bought 50 GB for my fiancee. Also it is not "much more integrated" than let's say Google Drive which is used for Google Photos and device backups and most stuff that come to mind that Apple has integrated. More integrated than Dropbox? Absolutely.

I use my 128GB ipad as my storage for all my iphone pics lol.

I use my NAS for basically everything as well, so never really got into online storage.

aparently the 1TB icloud storage is 10$/month, or 120$ a year, my Office 365 Home is 100$/year, for 1TB online storage for multiple users (4?), and you get word, excel and other stuff.

As far as I am aware, Google Drive and Drop Box cannot cloud sync your Desktop and Documents folders.

yeah, cloud storage is stupid expensive. 10TB (I have 24TB of usable storage on my NAS) costs 100$/month, so my NAS is 6 months of cloud storage. Might move to UNraid, but that'd be super confusing (I'm not even that good with ubuntu)
