Replacing the can't view topic with "you're not subscribed" for the floatplane section is not a good idea. I got a notification from a topic about a video delay in floatplane, and when I clicked on it I got this.

This is because the topic has been removed, my subscription is through the forum and always will be. 

muh specs 

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it. 

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff. 

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

They cancelled floatplane through the forum because of administrative big boy reasons. Soon this will all be gone and you won't be able to have a subscription through the forum at all. 

I once gave Luke and Linus pizza.

Eh... maybe not answer if you don't know the correct answer?  @Syntaxvgm is Silver contributor for forum. That's already 2 tier higher than just being FP subscriber. Those users are special as they are supporting forum directly and their subscription will always go through forums. Will there be FP forum year from now when all yearly's have run out? Maybe not.

I've been monthly, for almost 5 years. I don't remember where, but luke told me I won't have to bother with it, ever.

I meant yearly FP subscribers like myself. My sub here ends in October. And I've read that part of migration too. I think it was in the official post as well as a reply in some other thread.

Oh. Yah I think you'll eventually migrate. For me, even if it's not on the forum anymore, paying through the forum will always work I guess.

It's true Luke said that Bronze, Silver and Gold subscriptions at the Forum would give full access to Floatplane as in you didn't have change your payment or subscription method.

 

However to access Floatplane content I believe there will be no way around it, you'll be forced to use the dedicated website as they'll drop 'support' for it on the Forum.

However this topic is about them just using the no permission to view topic to blanket display this message, which is wrong when they delete a topic.

The error message system is really badly designed, because a custom error has to apply to any error that you get in that forum, regardless of cause.

I will mention to LMG that if they remove stuff from Floatplane they should also remove it from that section, so you either get "we couldn't find that" or "removed by a moderator", though that is dependent on people remembering when they do remove stuff.

or maybe they can stop removing stuff. Don't hide your failures.
