Amazon Patents Home Delivery Robots

(James must read this title as Laser James)

Amazon In-Home Delivery isn't dead, merely evolves.

Our Amazon co-overlords are up to some work in their labs. Admittedly, having a person enter your home (even with the gadgets of security touted) isn't the best idea. Would robots change this?

Quote

The robot would essentially wait inside a home or residence until an Amazon order arrives. Once a delivery truck drops off an order at the curb, the robot would go out to retrieve it on its own.

According to the patent, the robots could service individual homes, larger buildings like an apartment complex, or even an entire neighborhood.

Delivery to my door? Sure, I can live with that if I have too. Into my house? No. Fuck off.

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

I can see a porch pirate following the delivery truck and snagging the package before the robot can get out to the curb to pick it up.

Porch pirates don't scare me as much as possible crack heads looking for quick and easy scores following a robot delivering goods inside a house or garage...I'd rather lose my case of toothbrushes than my tools, electronics, or other valuables.

Good point. I get around the problem by using a private mail service where delivery drivers are supposed to deliver packages inside the business during business hours instead of dropping them out in the open for anyone to snag. Unfortunately, Amazon's delivery drivers don't always follow that protocol, which is one of the reasons I no longer order anything from Amazon (other than e-books).

Some grocery store and pizza chains are considering using delivery robots. I would like to see one climb the steps to my door of my house. if I order someting delivered to my door, that means to my door, not the curb or the bottom of my steps. I have days when I can't get out of the house.

I'm going to patent a method for breathing, by which air goes in and comes out of the lung.  You can all pay me royalties or stop breathing.

So, you're saying that Amazon wants to make robots that keep us from needing to walk not even 50 feet to get our packages?

Do you know how many buttons I had to push to make this reply?  I demand amazon make a robot that does this for me.

Apparently you are not aware that many people are handicapped and walking 50' isn't always an option for them. Also, keep in mind that people are not always at home when packages are delivered and delivery people are not always "ambitious" enough to take steps to make sure a package is hidden from street view.

This is true and it kills me...

I wonder if I can train the robot to shovel my driveway. ?

LOL! All there is to shovel where I live is mostly sunshine (and B.S. from various Governments). We do get rain once in a great while but that's hard to shovel.
