VEGA 56 New 279$ MSRP to combat 1660 Ti (250GBP & 285EUR)

I had a dream, was browsing Amazon. Went to look at Vega 56, and the price of the cards wasn't $279.99 it was only $79.99! I was like $79.99?! Woah I want one, even though i already got a 2070 and don't need it, but I stilll want it because of that price. I clicked on the sapphire model and the price changed to $279.99, wait, what? I clicked back and all of them are now at $279.99. What, $279.99?! NOOOOOO!!!, Then I woke up.

funny enough a friend of mine was checking for GPUs in South Africa and somehow over there the vega 64 is priced similarly to the 1070

Cheapest vega 56 with valid game bundle is from Gigabyte at $430. The value of the 3 games are $180. This makes the card at $250.

Not really, because neither AMD nor Gigabyte pay full price for the games,  You might save that much if you had intended on buying them separate, but I can guarantee you the cards value isn't that low.

Most expensive one I saw was $555 with the games bundled in, technically the card would be $375

I knew about this price drop about a week back, but it was already sold out.  :C  Was so tempting too, would be one hell of a milkway@home crunching card, especially once undervolted and tuned in correctly.

Only if AMD or the AIB paid full price for the games, but they don't, it is more likely they don;t pay anything for the games.

Idk whats wrong with Pricing in US or other countries, but i got an new MSI Vega 64 Air boost for 350€, which is about ~390USD. Slapped on a Watercooler for another 100€ and im pretty much set up for the next few years.

Even as someone that hasn't bought an nvidia card since the 500 series, it's pretty clear the "$279" price tag of a vega 56 was a temporary marketing tactic to disrupt the 1660 release.

 

A tiny fraction only available in select markets/retailers is not representitive of reality.

Prices are looking very good in the UK atm. OCUK selling two vega 56 models for 270, and you can even pre-order one for 250.

What examples do you have for Computer Electronics ?  Vega 56 was released August 28, 2017 and this is the only example.
