Guest The Viking

Erm... I mean, well, yeah, P0rnHub has started accepting crypto to pay for membership.

Spoiler

Adult entertainment website Pornhub has announced that it will begin accepting the cryptocurrency verge as payment.

The company detailed its move in a blog post and accompanying video, saying that it will take the token for its premium services as well as other available purchases. According to Pornhub, the kick-off will be marked by events in New York City and Silicon Valley.

"Verge". Such a strange name, yet a weird similarity with some spanish/french synonims for dick... ok then.

Quote

"We're extremely excited to offer our fans the ability to use crypto and think Verge, with its focus on anonymity, is the best option - whether for privacy, convenience or both," Price said.

Well... sure, cryptos are rather convenient when it comes down to privacy, right? So it's actually quite interesting to use one of them to pay for your subscription, insteado of having on your credit card, every month, a line that may tell others what it is 9_9

Quote

Here's the details of this cryptocurrency and Pornhub mashup. It's really simple and frankly, about as inevitable as the time Pornhub started a snow plow business — it just makes sense. Beginning today, Pornhub will accept Verge as a payment option for all Pornhub purchases such as Pornhub premium, HD and on-demand services and merchandising, but not recurring subscriptions. The reason for that should be obvious but I'll state it anyway — because of the inherent risk of the volatility of the price of cryptocurrencies.

[....] This mystery partnership caused the price of Verge to skyrocket this week, and it will surely go up as this news breaks around the internet. You see, if you haven't noticed by now — once the porn industry embraces a technology, that technology tends to begin to thrive. It's too early to tell if this will set Verge up for success previously experienced by Bitcoin and Ethereum, but it will certainly shake up the cryptocurrency world as investors see Verge succeed as the chosen payment option of an industry that tends to set the curve.

noooooo I prefer stable gpu prices to anonymous p0rn subscriptionssssss. Damned.

So.. anybody's gonna sign up? xD

The site now accepts Verge cryptocurrency (no relation to The Verge), a rebranded version of Dogecoindark, which split off from the original meme coin, Dogecoin, in 2014.

oh god....

verge coins are basically dogecoins... what can possibly go wrong.

Holy shit, Verge is a scam, and I can't imagine why anyone would invest in it.

the idea of using cryptocurrency to pay for a PH Premium subscription is fine, but Verge is the worst of the cryptos

the developer crowdsourced money to pay for his taxes, accidentally hard forked his own coin a few weeks ago, and generally doesn't know which side is up.

Terrible coin, IMO the next bitconnect.

More like pornhub was given millions of dollars worth of XVG by the dev to accept XVG.

Basically nothing short of market manipulation. Not to mention XVG isn't even a privacy coin and can be tracked. The devs are blatantly incompetent.

I know...I thought it would blow up. Maybe being associated with a porn site isn’t good for business.

I still have a wallet that's like 50k of them I mined for lols on a hard drive somewhere not even worth spinning up and converting to the new wallets or w/e

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays
