why is my username a bunch of numbers? (and how do i fix?)

i log in via steam i don't remember being asked to make a username and i cannot find a way to change it and i'm guessing that the few topics i start are overlooked because people think its some kind of spambot (the numbers what do they mean?)

In specific cases like this one they might allow him to change the user name, happens the forum tried importing his username from steam but something with the formating went wrong on the way, if that is the case they'll probably help him out.

They're probably the string of numbers that represents your SteamID.

This is how usernames sometimes end when account is created with Facebook and apparently Steam too. PM any moderator with name you want to use. They will redirect it to those who handle things. Only one PM and prefer someone who has been online lately.

 

It's said right in FAQ that bugged usernames are among those automatically allowed to be changed.

When there's a problem with the userneame because of a 3rd party login, we do (Steam will do numbers like here, and Facebook will sometimes put the whole person's name IRL).

A string of random numbers as a name is one of the officially accepted reasons for getting a name change so just pick one and pm an admin, they will get to it as soon as they can (ie like 1 - 7 days or so).

Because your reason isn't one of the ones listed in the rule, which was created because the admins were getting way too many requests.  If you don't like it, I suppose you could talk to one

That is part of the reason you can't change it yourself.  I'm talking about why we may not change it for you even upon request (though what you said also factors into that)

Username change in LTT even just once will be a very good birthday gift for my 27th birthday ?. Here’s me wishing it will happen. ?

 

My current LTT handle is just because I overheard someone said “hey ya’ll” in a ghetto accent and I don’t like it.

Imo fee could be even more. $25 for members and FP users, $15 for bronze and silver, $5 for gold. Plus universal cooldown of 6 months.

Another forum I'm a part of does this. It works well. Adding a fee makes you think twice about making a change just because you woke up on the wrong side of the bed. It also gives someone who has been here for years and has changed as a person, the chance to reflect that change. I know that if I was forced to use a username from years ago, the cringe factor would be enough to keep me from logging in, lol. We all change and allowing a forum username change every couple of years fits in with that.

I didn't remember how much Gold was. But point was that it would be around $25-30 overall. Maybe even such as it would make more sense getting contributor level over just change. As we all know, you can forget to cancel those.
