Also, this bill is old news IIRC. I'd heard about it months ago. Maybe it was in a different state.

And what about keeping the filter up-to-date? If it needs to call home people will hack the sh*t out of it to show it's a bad thing.

Oh sure, this law makes perfect sense.  Force tech companies like Microsoft to engineer a piece of undeletable software that can detect if the hardware is in Florida and censor the internet.  Or force companies like Intel, AMD, Qualcomm, and every other hardware manufacturer to make censoring chips that can also detect if the hardware is in Florida and censor the internet somehow.  This is a totally logical solution.  /s

 

This doesn't make any sense to me as to why Florida lawmakers are going after hardware manufacturer to censor the internet when what they should really do is make the same law, but instead of applying it to hardware sold in Florida, make the Florida ISPs censor the internet for Florida customers.  At least that makes more sense than expecting tech companies to spend money to engineer a censor filter into their products that only works in Florida.

They know how electronics work, that's why they're pushing the bill. They know that most people have no idea of the implications this bill would have. They have no idea that this magic program would let the govt spy on them (more than they already do,) see when they visit "naughty" websites and all that. Legislators know good and well that this bill isn't about human trafficking.

 

I'm sure the puppets politicians that they're using to push the bill don't know how computers work. That's why it works so well.

But that still doesn't make sense... People WILL notice the filter is there once it is indeed a thing. And it's almost impossible to keep it alive properly. People will find ways around it and hack it, if it has a big weakness it will be exploited. I'm just confused how they are planning to make it a thing because it's just impossible... I mean what are they going to do? Put them in a wifi-connected coffee machine? It's technically something that can get on the internet soo...

While I agree with you that people will have no idea the long term implications of this, it isn't really much to do with spying.  This is about censoring what the people can see, and it start with things that are hard for people to publicly defend.  While porn and such is becoming much more accepted, a politician can't yet stand up and say they regularly watch porn and everyone should be able to watch porn.  People in this country are way to up tight about anything sexual.

 

So you start by censoring porn, then once the censor program/software is in place, you can make easy modifications to just add terror related websites.  Then you could add politically dissenting websites.  The key is always to just get your foot in the door, and to not abuse it right away.  Lull people into complacency, then you can abuse it later.

 There are more important matters. Like Energy policy, Infrastructure upgrades and Education. This is what happens when Old, religious fanatics, and Greedy bastards have power. Because thats what really is the problem. Also both parties can go straight to Hell. This is why we need the younger generations to start getting seats in Government. This way we have people that know how the fuck technology works.

First you need to convince the younger generations that a nation this size can support more then 2 parties. The big 2 have done a wonderful job brainwashing the living shit out of people for generations that any vote not for them is a vote for their opponent.

Well the Democrats shitting on Bernie Sanders and the Shit The Donald has been doing has been very convincing for both the younger and older generation. I know several people who voted 3rd party in the last election. Honestly I think  a 3rd party getting power is a real possibility, that if we dont start World War 3.

I don't share your optimism. Sanders is an asshat who is "independent" but ran for the Democrats, campaigned for the Democrats and caucuses with the Democrats. There is nothing independent about him. When it comes to the The Donald it amazes me how stupid Republicans are and not realize he cleaned their shit party out, instead they think he is one of them when really it was easier to run as an R then a D, so he did.
