So i accidentally broke my cpu...

So i dropped my 3770k, the back of it was damaged. I contacted intel, but since the warranty is over, i dont have high hopes for it.

Is there any way to fix it?

I get a memory related error, which seems to suggest the beoken contacts are linked to memory.

What can i do?

You could try fixing the contacts, might be a fun project and would be amazing if you can get it going again. Also if you could get a better picture (close up) we might be able to see if fixing the contacts is a liable option or not.

The actual PCB is broken off. There is no fixing that

idk I think you got lucky with it not breaking were more contacts are located, from what I can see it looks like one or 2 contacts actually got damaged but possibly repairable.

Looks like it was in an area were no contacts were located though so might not have damaged tracing unless there is some on the other side of the CPU

Well, i get no display. My motherboard says no memory is installed, so i have a feeling that is the probelm.

However, why the damage is so... oddly placed? I'd understand if a corner got chipped or something, but that's literally in the middle of the CPU PCB...

One of your contacts is split down the middle, there's no repairing that, like... at all.

 

You will not be able to fix this, best thing you can do is spring for a low price i5 on the same socket.

If you have the bit that slots in you could try and lock it in place by using the motherboard's locking mechanism, but I am 99.9(Recurring) % sure that CPU is a gonner, im afraid.

repairing it is possible, just have to re-create the contact using conductive materiel, like one of those trace creating pens. But seeing it looks like only one contact got messed up seems odd for the errors he is receiving.

did you try with only 1 stick of ram? one slot at a time? you may have only lost the ability to run dual channel
