First IRL photos of Blackberry "Venice" leaked. The sliderphone comeback.

AlexGoesHigh

At this point BB's Venice, its first Android phone has been striped of all confidentiality. From specs ,concept renders ,videos, and that the device possesses a hardware keyboard has been leaked. The next logical step remaining, photos of the device itself, and here it is in all its glory with high resolution photos! (high enough to be a bit pixelated, doesn't help that they are .jpg, they look better in the source article)

Important to note is that the leaker says this is a prototype device and that the hardware shown isn't completely final, but is very close to being complete. To reiterate from previous leaks and rumors, the phone specs included a Snapdragon 808 SoC, 3GB RAM and a 18MP sensor with two tone flash looking at the photos.

Leaks point that "Venice" should have a general availability for release on November in the US for the big 4 carriers, other details like pricing and international availability haven't been leaked, yet.

I would seriously pay top dollar for this phone, despite how versatile a touch screen is, you simple can't type more 10 words on a touchscreen and not get annoyed doing it, that keyboard and Android has to be the saving grace of BB. While it would be better to have more competition on the software side of mobile with BB OS, you can't compete with the juggernaut Android has become, not even emulating Android apps were enough for BB to comeback, hell even MS that has been in the game longer that Android itself (Windows mobile is almost as old as XP) is starting to try and use Android itself to lure people and developers to its platform, if that isn't proof how dominant Android has become i don't know what else could be.

Why would you need a keypad with a touchscreen?

Try to type more that 10 words on a screen and not get frustrated, that's why.

Edit: also if you look at the keyboard, it doesn't have any navigation keys at all, its really there just to type text with it.

Some people like the feel of a mechanical input, plus it leaves more room on the screen.

games too maybe

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

Give it a Dvorak key layout and I'm interested.

Edit: Not for everyone, just have Dvorak and other layouts as a customization option when you purchase.

No one knows, but i would lean towards a sealed one looking at the photos, TBH with how common external batteries have become that feature stopped being a deal breaker for me, what would really kill it is a sub 3000mha battery, that would be a real deal breaker IMO.

I Like this device, looks to be amoled which is nice. Clean android skin, that keyboard... don't really care but the device itself looks very solid.

If they focused on security that would be a selling point.

If they focused on security that would be a huge deal breaker.

Why? that's literally the only thing BB still has, besides mobile keyboards.

By the looks of it, seems to be a mono speaker. *sigh* The amazing stereo speakers on the Z30 were one of my favorite features about it.

I used to do a lot of GBA emulation on my MyTouch 4G Slide using the keyboard and it was actually great fun :)
