I've got it set-up to not throttle even when folding and gaming (yes, I know it hurts my ppd). GPU will climb up if I leave the heater running full blast in my room with windows closed. Otherwise it really just sits at 60C 100% of the time (except at idle)

My brother's desktop has 2 full size pcie slots, but it's in an old prebuilt case so I can't run a 1070 and a Rx 580 : (

I put a beefcake on this and joined LTT 223518. I can not figure out how to make it send work to the GPU, everything is going to the CPU currently. The CPU is the Intel 10900X and it is correctly using all 20 cores, but the GPU is a 2080. From what I have been reading most of the workloads end up at GPU but it is just never getting those workloads.

Workload is CUDA only, you can see it in the Windows 10 task manager under CUDA where it should show close to 100% usage. Select CUDA by clicking on the small arrow under any GPU graph.

EVGA cards are great, with that said I don't actually have an EVGA card these days.

 

I have a 2070 from an alienware prebuild because I nabbed it for 260GBP and an XFX 2060. Then have a 980 and 1080 FE and a Aorus 1080 warerforce

When you're setting up the cpu slot I would set up shy of your full 20 threads, maybe 18 or so, so that you have some cpu overhead for feeding the gpu

I'd personally do 18 or 17. Would not want to end up causing issues for that GPU. but then again I use my system as my daily driver too

Thanks, I hijacked 2 cores back, adjusted the current workload and it started recalculating everything and downloading the GPU workload almost immediately. I assumed it would pick optimized to use both sources and I was wrong with that thought. Thank you for letting me get some additional points for the cure.

I'm even somehow able to play light games like League of Legends without hitting performance of either folding or fps. Seems like 3D and CUDA workloads are VERY well separated or the RTX card has still plenty performance left that NVIDIA reserved for Quadros with same chips but way more CUDA cores. Interesting stuff.

TBH I play halo and many indie games with only losing 5% production

That's pretty cool! I didn't even try starting up some powerhog like Assassins Creed which by the way eats my overclocked 5820k (6c/12T) alive.

Nice i wanna upgrade to a 3900X towards end of the year, seems like the move to make for better Adobe CC 4K video editing. Prices are slowly falling.
