What'd you ask for for your birthday?

What'd you ask for for your birthday?

info dump:

Spoiler

I have a good PC, I like guns but I just bought ammo for everything.

I really just have no idea what to ask for. I've considered VR but the ones that are good (HTC Vive & Pimax are a bit expensive to ask for.) I don't feel as though I'm lacking any physical things.

I just have no idea what to ask for so I'm curious what you guys ask for.

Hm...? Asking things on your birthday...?

Ah, I hope I don't sound critical, it's just... the concept is kinda foreign to me. ?

Here's a thought: how about giving back on your birthday?

When my birthday rolls around, sometimes I make handcrafted things for my close friends, or treat them to dinner.

Receiving gratitude and happy memories make for happy birthdays, methinks.

I don't ask anything for my birthdays. I haven't expected to receive any birthday-gifts at all for decades and if I happen to get some, I take it as a surprise instead.

uhhhh.

i mostly just ask my folks for things that I need at the time, but haven't been able to buy due to lack of funds. A couple new pairs of jeans, maybe some shoes or a hat or something. They always surprise me with one or two extras, but thats it. I spend my birthdays with people i love, and share smiles. Thats all the gift i need

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)

I tend to forget my birthday.  The biggest problem with it is I also tend to forget other people’s birthdays.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

We got my oldest daughter her first gun at 12. She loves going to the range. She will be 15 later this year and she knows more about guns then most the hunters I know.

Its not rare to be younger and in to guns.

Heh.  Liking guns is not a grownup thing.  The whole plot of “a Christmas story” revolves around a kid wanting a gun.

i hate asking for things for my birthday.   the only things i might actually want are too expensive to ask anybody else to buy for me.

That just tells a lot about your parenthood.

Makes me a damn good parent lol.

Nothing wrong with teaching kids how to properly use a gun. My youngest cant handle a rifle yet but once she can we are going on family hunting trips. My oldest has been asking about learning bow hunting as well (I personally cant teach that as I have never done it).

Probably someone who for some dumb reason thinks guns are "mindless killing machines with no place in this world".

I think I trust more kids with guns than adults.

Edit:

politics and social matters aside... what have you guys asked/received/given for birthdays?

Someone asked me what I want so I have to think of something. Otherwise I’d be like “yeah, cake & beer night is gunna be fun.”

Well they are mindless and they are killing machines. They don’t act by themselves though, at least the vast majority of the time. When they do they usually kill their wielders.  They’re not all meant to kill people though most of them can.  The biggest issue with guns I think is in heavy urban areas.  More other forms of law enforcement, less reasonable uses, more people to hit accidentally.  Guns are tools like hammers.  It’s more difficult to kill someone with a hammer but it can and does happen.

I suspect OP was looking for gift ideas from your average techy... not, whatever this has become.
Mechanical gaming keypad's are pretty awesome, VR if it's in budget or a Raspberry pi kit could be pretty fun.
