Your Tech Pet Peeves

xrex64

I have some tech pet peeves or things that bug me. Here are some of mine:

  • Cluttered desktops
  • Cluttered desk tops (difference)
  • Downloading things into C:\
  • Distorted pictures
  • More than 30 tabs open
  • When people play games in a window if not needed
  • When someone opens up their laptops and it looks like they spit on it 87 times a day

What are some of yours?

Everything you just said (except the laptop part lol)

 Tearing

Inconsistent stuff (ex.: 2 different model monitors)

 Bugs. Obviously.

I noticed one the day I got my Nexus 7 and tried returning it. The guy laughed at me and said he couldn't see it. :(

Upgrading peoples computers that were OBVIOUSLY not intended to be upgraded by the manufacturer.

Ugly Cables.

Webpages that have FIVE BILLION ads.

People who record videos on their phones and hold them in portrait.

People who think they're pro photographers with their smartphones while i'm over here wasting all of my money on lenses for my cannon

Beats. (Need I say more?)

Some other stuff i also ca't think of....

When people use low resolution wallpapers...

Yea this one kills me every time I wan't to change my wallpaper!

On google images: Oooooooohhhh this one looks good!

Set as background: Welp this one is shit.

I look for 4-10k wallpapers just for that reason.

4) Watching a person type in there password, not literally, then use the mouse to click submit.

Or even worse, interfaces that force you to do that, like on my router.

Let's see

  • Cluttered Desktops (mine has nothing but the recycle bin)
  • Cluttered Desktops (cable manage people)
  • Cluttered Desktops (seriously, how do you plan to write anything if you need too)
  • Norton
  • People who think apple invented the smart watch market
  • The magic of why a printer isn't working
  • People who don't organize their stuff into folders
  • People who think shortcuts on your desktop are the actual program
  • People who think clearing space on a hard drive makes your computer significantly faster
  • Adware, Junkware, Spyware
  • People who assume because you built a computer that you can fix every computer problem

Console fanboys denying their inferiority (besides PS2. PS2 > all in terms of games).

Team Green vs Team Red (even though I'm Team Green, I don't hate AMD).

Comparing AMD and Intel by raw specs.

Basic guide to CPU's!

If I said I were 14, you would call me a kid. If I say 70, you’ll entitle me too old. If I say 20 you say I’m inexperienced and if I say 40 than I'm too boring.

Your issue with is?

Because subwoofers (the majority of them) were not designed to work up on your desk, out in the open, close to your ear. They're designed to work in a "chambered" environment - such as in the corner of the room and or under your desk. They actually use the space/chamber under your desk as a means of amplifying and projecting the sound. Having them right up close to you and out in the open will drown them out and make them sound flat. Having them under your desk will produce a much more full and rich sound - as they were meant to be heard. You'll not only hear it better, but feel it as well (explosions, impacts etc.).

Audio is a funny animal and subwoofers are stranger still. They should not be positioned like a typical speaker. By even just placing a small sub behind your monitor instead of out in the open on your desk will give better results.

Digital-only video games.

Don't really care about books, or music (somewhat about movies), but digital-only video games drives me nuts for some reason.

So much so, that I am one of the few people that actually own a physical copy of Goat Simulator.

When you install something and they try to sneak in another software, making me have to be careful with all my installations.

Dirty desks or desktops, at least have it organized.

Oil on my screens for my laptop, phone, girlfriends phone...she always has oil and i always just end up cleaning it.

People treating my tech with absolute no care.

When people brag about their specs, especially since it isn't as good as they think it is.

My GT 610 is better than your GTX 980, VitalPotato. :)

In all seriousness, when people miss name(?) things. Ex: The CPU box.

Pentium G3258, R9 280X, Corsair CS600M, Gigabyte GA-H81M-H, 2 Random monitors, a no-name keyboard, a cheap $15 Logitech mouse.

LG G3 Vigor

When people buy K series CPUs with Z series motherboards and AIOs but don't overclock.

Friend of mine has a 3570K with a $200+ Asus Z77 board and H80i but he will not overclock it no matter what I say to him. "I want to keep it stable" he keeps saying. Ugh...  -_-

So wait... The CPU box isn't a real thing? Next thing you'll tell me is that the motherboard drive isn't real either...
