No i do not think that will be a problem. It is not that hot cpu. Even 120mm aio should keep the temps pretty low.

I hate to be a grammar nazi here... but it's Peripheral Component Interconnect Express, not Pounds per Square Inch.

Thanks, guys! I guess my ultimate (anything is better than integrated) PCMR friend, was wrong. Ima be going integrated and maybe spend that money on something that will actually improve performance, RGB. (don't hate it was a joke!!)

matus177 got a reaction from Blasteque in Help! Can't figure out my mobo headers
Check manual for mobo. It should be there. But it should be:
    1. row: Powerled+, Powerled-, Powerbutton
    2. row: HDDled+, HDDled-, Resetbutton(does not matter if you put it in the first two or second two as it should do same thing)

So you have actually 3 choices here

    1. 4790k / z97 mobo - used
    2. r5 1600 / x370 or b350 mobo / 8 gb ddr4 ram - new
    3. i5 8400 / b360 mobo / 8 gb ddr4 ram - new

EDIT: I would go for new personally.

all would perform roughly same in games

It had similar performance to the Formula Gold which was closer to the GQ over the G2 (the two performance baselines)

matus177 got a reaction from Sack in PC won’t boot to bios will restarted repeatedly
Try starting the computer with cpu and one stick of a ram only to see if you can get to bios. Before that turn of your psu and press power button few times to discharge capacitors when turned off that turn back on and start. If you get to bios then start adding parts until you get the problem again.

If you do not need those extra ports and other features take a look at asrock z370 extreme4. Really good overclocking board and probably best board for the price.

I think for normal usage you should be fine for 4-5 years easily, but it totally depends on your workflow, like for instance if you use RealFlow for dynamic fluids simulations you might be caching 60GB or more per render, and only by doing 4 renders per day you would reach the threshold in about 2 years, but that's the extreme, I have ssds as system drives and I've had them for about 5 years without any kind of significant performance loss.

The Samsung drives are awesome, I don't think that you should be worrying too much about it

Offered £1150 and he said yes. So he's emailed about the warranty transfer and is getting back to me. The MSI 1080ti is £880 atm alone so all the rest for £270 is a steal.

Ah. I got also slightly misslead by what the generational improvement were. The 290x is comparable to the 1060 6GB. Same with the 780ti

matus177 reacted to kevinisbeast707 in which cpu should i get
I can appreciate where you're coming from and I totally agree with the overclocking thing but on my 4690k, even when I overclocked to 4.6Ghz, I was still being cpu bound in games like GTA V with a gtx 770. Idk what it was about haswell but it just seemed to like to do that for some reason... I've had better luck with higher core counts but idk if it's only due to core counts.

@thach958 You need to research how SLI and Crossfire works. It is clear you do not have sufficient understanding on this subject.
In order to make what you propose to work it would take an incredible amount of work, timing, software and hardware collaboration that would result in very little improvement for the effort and time time taken.

Yeah, those benchmarks aren't very useful, since there's almost no detail to them or explanation of their provenance. As I've said, I've owned the 1080 Ti, and read plenty of reviews (including detailed benchmarks) of it prior to purchase. It's not going to be good enough, much as the Titan V wouldn't be.

Sure, generalise an entire brand, and recommend the board that uses objectively worse components, based on Asus having better build quality. I'd like sources for Asus having better build quality.
The Extreme4 is higher end than the Z370A
