gpu question

i have a psu that comes with two psi connectors for graphics cards one fits in my gpu but if i use the y shaped wire that came with my gpu would it give me more power for my gpu since it connects to both psi wires on my psu or is the one going to it enough power

gtx 1060, my psu has 2 4 pin connectors for graphics cards. what i want to know if i use the y shaped wire that is 2 three oin shaped connectors that goto a four pin connector if that would give more power or if the one 4 pin is enough from my psu

4pin (in 2x2 config, like a square) connectors are for the CPU, also known as EPS 4pin. That goes to the a connector on your motherboard around the CPU socket, usually on the top left (but I've seen it on other sides as well). There's also an EPS 8pin in older PSUs and often mixed up with PCIe 8pin, they are different and cannot replace each other's position

 

Another 4pin (4pin aligned in a straight line) is the molex 4pin, used by some peripherals like fan hubs, led strips, even sound cards. Also not for your graphics card.

You need to type slower and edit typos to be more clear. From what I understand, you have a cable that combines 2 PCIe power cables into one. This is a good item to use. I use it for my 1070 to take full advantage of GPU boost, and I recommend it.

nope lemme make it supper simple. i have a 600w psu it = 2 4 pin pci connections. i buy gpu it = y cable for 3 pin connectors for a psu that does not have four pin connectors. if i use that three pin on both of my 4 pins so that those 2 = one connector would that = more power that just the one 4 pin connection alone. it is a really simple question you just have to read it clear

I didn't know what 4 pin meant, I just was familiar with 6 pin and 8 pin pcie

yes. the use of "=" so much threw me off.

anyway, what this will do is allow the Nvidia software to automatically overclock your graphics card for you, as long as the fans can keep up with cooling and such.

if your 1060 fits the 8 pin, use the y cable.
