So I'm building a pc for my mom and it will only be a web browsing/light flash game machine, I don't want to get her integrated, but is a 1030 better than integrated or should I get a 1050 or nothing?

thanks!

A while back I did a experiment with a 4790k. Played gta 5 on it with medium settings, 30 fps. Its not worth unless you wanna upsell your mom.

As in you already have PC hardware and you need to throw in a GPU for video output?

Because you can use a much cheaper GPU and still be fine.

If you're building an entire new system just get an R3 2200G. Or just buy a laptop.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Yeah total waste of money to get a gpu for that. This is the rare instance I'd recommend a 2200g/2400g

Thanks, guys! I guess my ultimate (anything is better than integrated) PCMR friend, was wrong. Ima be going integrated and maybe spend that money on something that will actually improve performance, RGB. (don't hate it was a joke!!)

Also, I'm paying for it, so I don't wanna upsell myself.

yes, and i believe igpu in 8th are 630's, and can support 4k video, depending on the board, pretty much all i've seen though in the bios you can up the igpu vram to help it out some too btw.

well, you can always set it to 1gb, or so. I can't imagine those flash games need more then that lol

I am too. but that is still so overpriced. (been eying that one for a light media center gaming pc.)

Im going to use 1 of my ra470's for a media center once new gen cards come out, even though this card is more then needed for that type of setup. If you weren't going to game on it also, you could pick something up cheap for a media center card. Im only upgrading mine cause i've finally ordered a 4k monitor and wanted to get into 4k gaming and my card, even in CF won't game 4k lol but does excellent at everything i've thrown at it at very high or ultra settings/

As it was said above this is exactly the case for ryzen 2200g/2400g. 2200g is probably sufficient enough. Their igpus should perform roughly same as gt 1030. 2200gs vega 8 probably little bit worse and 2400gs vega 11 probably a bit better. Do not go for intel in this case, just not worth it.

Pair it with some b350/b450 board(if you get b350 make sure the bios is updated and compatible with raven ridge, b450 should be released like anytime probably).

Do not forget that these ryzen cpus benefit from fast ram so I would get atleast 3000 mhz sticks(2x4 would be probably enough).

And do not cheap out on psu. Look at psu tier list in Cases and psus section of the forum and pick one from t1 to t3. The good budget choice would probably be corsair cx450m
