Conza reacted to LinusTech in LTT Video Error Handling Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
Internally this is a living document, and may change as we move forward, but as part of our push for further transparency, we are publishing it in its current form to help our community better-understand how we classify errors and what action we will be taking to rectify them.

    Types of errors
    Flubs: the host simply misspoke
Incongruencies: information within the video is not in agreement (e.g. host says “$45” while the product page shows “$47”
Bad spec: a table or MOGRT contains incorrect information (e.g. “48MB” instead of “96MB”
Bad data: a graph or visualization contains data (generated by us) that is erroneous, misplaced, or spurious.
Bad info: a statement or representation in the video that is misleading or factually inaccurate
    Types of error correction
Proactive (before the video is posted)
Video pickup: the segment is re-shot with both audio and video
Human audio pickup: new audio is recorded for the segment (visuals have coverage)
AI audio pickup: new voiceover is generated. In the best case this uses a voice model that sounds like the host. However, using a robot voice  can still work.
Text on screen: the editor overlays clarifying or correcting text
This will not be received by viewers who are not (or cannot) watching the screen
Reactive (after the video is posted)
Video Replace: replacing the video with a new version without re-uploading
This relies on YouTube and takes some time. There are fairly strict guidelines around the use of this tool and strong justification must be provided for all changes. This is preferred to a re-upload, but there is likely a soft-limit on how often we can use this resource.
Re-upload the video: Set the original, erroneous video to Private and upload a new version. This will have algorithmic effects, but must be done if replacement is not an option
Pinned comment: add a comment describing the correction.
This will not be received by viewers who do not check the comments (common, especially for those watching on a Smart TV) and should only be used for low-severity errors.

    Assessing & Responding to Errors
If any of the following types of errors are discovered prior to filming (e.g. during script review) , fix them before the shoot.

    1. Very Low Severity
    - The statement could possibly be misunderstood, but it’s generally true and most people would be fine with how it’s currently presented.
    - eg. The host says, “One of DisplayPort’s main advantages over HDMI is its higher bandwidth,” but this is only true when comparing certain generations of the standards. HDMI 2.1, for example, has much higher bandwidth than DP 1.1.

    Action: no action

    2. Low Severity
    - The statement is incorrect, and we should try to clarify it better in the future, but we can leave it for now because it doesn’t meaningfully impact a viewer’s purchase decision or general knowledge.
    - eg. The host says, “This monitor features moderate pixel response times and contrast because it uses an IPS panel”, but the panel manufacturer is actually AUO, rather than LG, so it’s not an IPS panel - a term which is trademarked by LG - but rather an IPS-type or IPS-like panel.

    Action: Pinned comment
Note: Pinned comment text must be approved by the Community Coordinator before being posted.

    3. Medium Severity
    - The statement is incorrect, and a minority of the audience could be upset or misled, even if it doesn’t really affect the outcome of the product evaluation for the majority.
    - eg. The host says, “This GPU has AMD’s AMF video encoder, which is basically the same as NVIDIA’s NVENC,” but while the stated functionality is the same, NVENC offers better image quality, which could be important to a small minority of buyers.

Action: Video replaced if possible according to YouTube policy, otherwise pinned comment and above fold mention of the issue in the video description
If doing a video replace, a pinned comment should communicate this is coming and note the expected changes. This comment should be un-pinned when the video replace is complete.
Note: Pinned comment text must be approved by the Community Coordinator before being posted.

    4. High Severity
    - The statement is incorrect, and a significant portion of the audience could be misled or make a poorly-informed purchase decision.
    - eg. The host says, “This is a great gaming monitor,” when in fact, the monitor is a 60Hz VA display that, while ‘fine’ for playing games, lacks important gaming-centric features that could be easily had for the same price, making it a poor choice.

Action: Video replaced if possible according to YouTube policy. Otherwise, set unlisted and disable monetization until corrective action can be taken.
If doing a video replace, a pinned comment should communicate this is coming and note the expected changes. This comment should be un-pinned when the video replace is complete.
Note: Pinned comment text must be approved by the Community Coordinator before being posted.

    5. Very High Severity
    - The statement is VERY incorrect—basically the opposite of correct. There is no charitable interpretation that could make this anything but completely irresponsible.
    - ex. The host says, “Most games require only one high-performance core to perform their best,” when that hasn’t been true for over a decade.

    Action: Video removed or remade

Super unbalanced PC investigation, start with a 780ti / 4770k PC then take the GPU out and put it in a modern PC, see what performance gains there are, then likewise, put a latest gen GPU back into that older system, and see how slow it performs

Conza reacted to HotdropHeinz in Can prime 95 degrade or damage a 10700k
No it won't. Thermal degradation isn't that much of a problem for your CPU as high voltage is. You can run a CPU at 99C for a looong (years) time until it starts to take damage. A bigger problem would be high voltage. The voltage you use is quite safe though. Everything under 1.35V is okay for 24/7 use.
When you PC shuts off the CPU just saves itself from overheating. It does this BEFORE damage occurs, otherwise what would be the point right?
If you can run prime95 for half an hour your settings seem to be quite stable.
Depending on your cooler 64C in games is totally fine.

So that looks like a pain, armour on motherboards, but there should be room.

Unscrewing is obvious, then imo you want to get like a chopstick to hold the tab down in case the throw is a little short, then pull from the RIGHT side first, LEFT side may relock the tab as it leans the card toward the front of the case.

    That should do it.

From a brief Google, looks like "A320 chipset supports RAM overclocking".

I reckon go with 3000mhz, see if it's stable, then see how far you can go if you're willing to go further.

Yeah, Delta T over ambient is more valuable than raw temperature.

My 7700K is running at about 13-15C Delta T over the ambient temperature, the ambient is 18C so it's idling at about 31C.

~40C doesn't seem ridiculously high, maybe a tiny bit, but it's an 8 core 14nm chip, they're known to be hot(ish).

Also there's an edit feature for posts too FYI

Conza got a reaction from Mateyyy in Best cpu cooler for ryzen 7 3800x
@maizenblue You do you, if you're set on a 3800X, there's nothing I can say to change your mind to getting the 3700X instead.

However, for anyone else reading this, I have to concur with the arguments from Mateyy, Jurrunio, GeLi and Vejnemojnen. If it's already purchased, it's not horrible, it's just less value, the $30 is buying you the number "8" in my opinion.

Using Vejnemojnen's Techspot reference, in the article it gives the Silicon Lottery numbers, according to what they found, you're basically guaranteed to get 150Mhz on average, 4.05vs 4.2 @ 100%, 4.15 vs 4.3 @ The top ~20%. So what does the 150Mhz gain you in performance? At 1080p, the lowest realistic resolution anyone should be running, 1FPS For Assassin's Creed Odyssey, 1FPS in BF V (2FPS on 1% lows), 1FPS on The Division 2, don't see much reason of listing others, no performance improvement. You don't even get a better cooler, not that you're using that anyway since as you noted an after market solution has a number of superior options.

Whether it's the motherboard, cpu cooler, case, memory, more storage or storage speed, a cooler/quieter GPU of the same chip, psu or even just an extra fan, your $30 is better off being allocated elsewhere, even if it's just staying in your pocket.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the 3800X... Except AMD made the 3700X as well, and it's 99.9% as much real world performance for 15% more money, I could never recommend that. Yes, it's not 15% more in the total cost of the build, yes at say $3000 it's 1% more performance, but it's just a waste of money to buy it over the 3700X in almost any situation I can think of. My 2 cents.

Conza reacted to Mateyyy in Best cpu cooler for ryzen 7 3800x
Firstly I'd suggest you go with a 3700X instead of the 3800X, as it's pretty much the same CPU, only cheaper.

Regarding the cooling topic, the "run quieter" part isn't really true, as in any AIO, besides the fans, will also have a pump, which will create additional noise, compared to air coolers where there's just the fans. I'd recommend a Dark Rock 4 or a NH-U14S, but if you really want to go with an AIO, a single 120/140mm rad will do, especially if you plan to run it stock, though you could also go with a 240mm, and keep the fans running at lower speeds.

I love thermaltake, and this is my favourite budget case of theirs right now, front airflow is great, built in it myself, great choice in my opinion.

Also don't beat yourself up over cable management, the front looks pretty much as good as you can get, for the back you 'could' move the CPU 8 pin to the right side and tuck it in along that side of the frame, but don't, you've done a good enough job.

Also I disagree with the above, I can't find any reviews of it specifically, but it's corsair, it has over 500W on the 12V rail, good warranty, don't worry about it, it's not a no name, non-80+, you'll be fine.

1660 is also the smart Nvidia GPU at the price point instead of the 1650 or 1660ti, just overclock it, 2600, love that thing great cpu will last you ages.

Yeah it's a great budget build, well done!

    Lovely build.

I have built in that case with that CPU cooler, love the CPU cooler got my 2600 to 4.1 all core and hovers around 65c under load, was very happy with it.

2080 Super at 1080p though? Maybe go to a 2070 Super? Depends on your games, consider the EVGA BLACK GAMING one for a bit more cash, might cool better than Nvidias cooler.

M.2 FTW, but not sure about NVME, I prefer Sata M.2 with more storage space, you won't notice it for gaming, as a workstation you may have some particular applications.

64GB is op, but pretty awesome.

Pretty solid, there might be workstation reasons for the NVME drive, 2080 S, check out maybe an ultra wide 1080p? Probably can't find that refresh rate though I guess, 1440p ultra wide? I have a Acer Predator X34p, 120hz, high enough refresh for me, 2080S will have no issues, more real estate for doing actual work.

Also, thanks for the suggestions on the monitors. I probably wont buy the monitor right away and stick to my current work-issued Dell 23" ... but I'll keep in mind to look for a 1440p 144hz display when I do shop for that!

Get a 3700X, 3800X or 3900X, don't get the 9900K; costs more, more heat, no CPU cooler included, etc etc. 750W isn't needed H150i isn't needed 4400MHz memory? WTF This will perform the same (if not better) for the same money:
