to answer your question, i believe so, but a single 2080ti would be fine, and would not waste any extra money on a second

my advice to @Rani would be to use his old card until he can afford a better CPU/MOBO combo

Slurpy reacted to Lemtea in Want buy 1070 or 1070ti But wich brand ?
For the most part the brand of gpu doesn't really matter except for the stock cooler provided on the card considering gpu boost will increase clocks until a thermal or power limit is reached. That being said each brand as its own lineup for each gpu e.g. 1070. For example gigabyte has 1070 windforce (base model), 1070 g1 gaming (middle), 1070 aorus (top of the line). The difference between the cards is relatively minor with the higher end models typically getting beefier coolers, higher factory oc's, binned cores, RGB lighting and so on. Asus's range goes from the 10XX turbo, 10XX STRIX, 10XX STRIX OC to the top of the line Poseidon platinum. For the most part you should pick out of these cards based on your budget and required features. Also note that it is better to get a 'lower model' 1070ti instead of a 'top of the line' 1070.
    Good luck finding a GPU

He would prefer an SSD and a decent graphics card. He would play Minecraft(windows store version) and Roblox, along with a bit of video editing possibly(DaVinci Resolve 14) Touchscreen would be best.
This is what he is looking at: HP ENVY x360

I believe yes, I ran two graphics cards together, but not in SLI. You just need to plug it into your motherboard in the way you would use any PCIe Card, and it should work
note that the programs running on the fourth monitor will have performance respective to your Quadro, not your 1050ti

You can get an R5 1600 + ASrock Pro4 for the price of a 7700K anyways

Or maybe even just get the R5 1400 which is 4 cores/8 threads, and save the rest for upgrading to the 8 cores in april....

But the R5 1600 is likely fine as is. Could easily fit in the R7 1700 as well

New Ryzen chips are coming soon, hoping on 4.5ghz average OCs, they're going to come with newer perhaps better optimized motherboards as well

With "phone" do you mean a smartphone or the nokia 3310 type? I don't think there's a problem in giving kids of almost any age a simple communication device, especially if for some reason they need to be able to contact their parents regularly - the worst you'll be able to do with an old nokia is play snake in class, and that gets old fairly quickly (it's also not worse than just doodling for an hour), or make prank calls, which are easily found out and dealt with.

A smartphone, on the other hand, can be a lot more problematic - particularly with internet access. I don't think kids and teens below high school age should have unrestricted access to one, generally speaking. Of course, as with all things, the bar will vary depending on the specific situation and person. I think parents should do their best to make sure their children are aware of the risks and downsides - after that, it's up to them to judge whether their kid is mature enough or not.

But there does seem to be a connection to the type of parent who gives a 6 year old a $700 phone just because. and also sucking at parenting and creating a selfish monster lol.

Yes, that would be good for playing those games with settings turned down. I would personally go with a Better GPU(1050ti) and bump down my cpu though. And you might want to consider 16gb of ram

I submitted Other because everyone ages differently (mentally), unfortunately. I've met some 6 y/os that're more responsible than people in their 20's. More importantly so the parents need a good set of values too. Which sadly not many do, growing up I saw some kids with $700 smart phones. I'm not against giving a little extra to someone you love if ya can afford it. However that'd be like me using a 1080Ti to play RuneScape in 900p, way too OP even beyond "future-proofing". IMO if the parents are buying the phone for their child/teen, should be in the $200-$350 unless the kid is willing to help pay for it then sure go a bit higher.
