Hey

I am not sure where to ask this and I hope I got this right

I'd need some info

I am currently looking to upgrade my rig (i3-6100 +gtx 1050 2gb + 8gb ram)

And I decided to go for a good cpu that'd allow me to stream/render/edit easily

Several people kept suggesting i7-7700k

My motherboard is compatible (h110m-c) with just a simple bios update

Budget: 370€ / 450$

Main question: is the cpu too powerful for the gpu

Other Questions are:

1) is it worth the upgrade if i want to stream games 1080p?

2) will it bottleneck(im quite sure everything would bottleneck somehow) but would it be really bad?

3) should I go for it and later on (in few months) upgrade my gpu aswell or get some other cpu now

4) if it will bottleneck, what other good cpu for content creation/streaming do you guys suggest?

Thank you for reading/helping and if my questions are dumb is because Im frankly new to this

Your GPU would bottleneck the i7 so I would upgrade that soon after.

No, don't waste your money on Kaby lake

You can get an R5 1600 + ASrock Pro4 for the price of a 7700K anyways

Or maybe even just get the R5 1400 which is 4 cores/8 threads, and save the rest for upgrading to the 8 cores in april....

But the R5 1600 is likely fine as is. Could easily fit in the R7 1700 as well

New Ryzen chips are coming soon, hoping on 4.5ghz average OCs, they're going to come with newer perhaps better optimized motherboards as well

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Looks like you can barely make the R7 with the low end board there, which I have and it runs fine, not great for overclocking though. Needs a fan over the VRM, can still do 3800mhz at 1.35V

Maybe just save your money until april and use shadowplay to stream in the meantime, X470 boards and faster ryzen at the same price will be out then.

Everyone was going crazy for it, when ryzen launched intel 8 cores were like $600-800 I think? On X99?

The i7 8700K is better for streaming than the 7700K, but in overall value Ryzen has them beat, their 8700K review has some streaming results as well I think

The GPU would be the limiting factor of the system, so yes.

The only thing the GPU limits is your resolution and quality settings depending on the game, which is still going to be 1080p 60fps in most AAA games
