Friend Is broke, best laptop under 650 USD

Slurpy

He would prefer an SSD and a decent graphics card. He would play Minecraft(windows store version) and Roblox, along with a bit of video editing possibly(DaVinci Resolve 14) Touchscreen would be best.
This is what he is looking at: HP ENVY x360

Main Laptop: Google Pixelbook

Dev mode w/ Cross Enabled

PC: Ryzen 7

1700x / 32GB 2667 / GTX 1080 / 1.5 TB of SSDs / 1TB of HDDs

Monitor: AW3418DW Ultrawide

120hz / 3440x1440 / RGB / Amazonbasics Dual Monitor Arm

2nd Monitor: Dell U2515hx

That laptop is going to be fine for that, but you have to make sure the RAM is dual Channel otherwise you cut the GPU performance in half.

I don't know why HP doesn't stick a larger battery in the Ryzen Laptops either.

Don't forget to use Radeon Chill or undervolt it to extend the battery life while gaming.

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

YES, GET IT. I OWN THAT EXACT SAME LAPTOP. Yeah its an amazing beast. It comes with 4GB X2 DDR4 so dont worry xD. It comes in dual channel out of the box. The only minor complaint is the battery life at 6 hours and the slow but manageable 1 TB HDD. Get an SSD as fast as possible.

Just look at my signature lol

Primary Laptop (Gearsy MK4): Ryzen 9 5900HX, Radeon RX 6800M, Radeon Vega 8 Mobile, 24 GB DDR4 2400 Mhz, 512 GB SSD+1TB SSD, 15.6 in 300 Hz IPS display

I don't know why no one has taken the time to make a proper Ryzen APU laptop, probably because they don't want to really spend money redesigning tooling for it. The HP models are just lacking bigger batteries because they're going for the thin and light meme.

Yeah, Also slight warning. HP uses specific screws on that laptop plus small Philips screws under the rubber strips. Look up a vid on upgrading it xD

Well I just recently bought the HP Envy x360. You need the specific screws to get into it. It runs pretty okay but don't expect turbo speeds... Go for the AMD Ryzen version if you can get it as the Intel Integrated Graphics just suck. You might also want new thermal paste because the heat output is significant but not discomforting but it slows down performance. Also the screen is a fingerprint magnet and stains catch easily on the body of the laptop. Also note that the touch pad is a little too clicky and comes with Synaptic Drivers, The keyboard's okay layout wise but not good for gaming. The screen doesn't get bright enough for outdoor use and battery life sucks despite low screen brightness and power sipping internals. A new update is needed.
