A 570 is a real deal. if u have 4gb vram you can play anygame.  There's a big difference in performance between 720p30 low and 4k144 Ultra. I remember my 127% oc 670 could do bf3 and bf4 4k60 easy back when ya'll were stuck on 4k30 display ports held back by PlebVision TM

    Hi my friends.
I want to ask you, do you really notice any difference membrane vs mechanical while gaming.
Me not,and I'm a gamer whole life on membrane kyb.
I think this all with switches is stupid marketing trick.
But if anyone really without a lie notice any difference explain me down in a reply.
    Thx.

LOST TALE got a reaction from GamerBlake in Is it worth upgrading a 2080 Ti for gaming?
I only upgrade to increase FPS and Resolution. This usually at the point where I'm thorn between the two which should go away forever once this generation is in stock and DP 2.0 monitors sell at 4k144. I couldn't care less about details.

This is too personal apparently so nobody can answer this without knowing how you feel about these things.

LOST TALE reacted to meowmeowgaming in Really dreading the gaming only and mining only new GPU's
On my computer I play games nearly 100% of the time I am on it. However when I am not I will mine crypto currencies on the same GPU I use to play all the games I want to. But if the new gaming only GPU's are actually mining resistant, then that will be a huge problem for me. Additionally, the operating system I use is Linux. I feel like the only reason my current GPU has drivers that work is because of crypto currency mining. I know tons of people who have GPU driver problems on Linux on Nvidia GPU's, and with a large share of the Linux machines with Nvidia GPU's going to the new, mining only cards, I really feel like, if Nvidia continues this, no new gaming cards will have good Linux drivers. I feel like with this not only will a lot of gamers who mine crypto currencies during their computers downtime will suffer, but gaming on Linux will suffer immensely too. All I can really hope for is that either this doesn't end up happening or Nvidia only does it this one time because of the silicon shortage. But I also feel like they won't stop doing this because it means more profit for them. If cryptocurrency miners need to buy new cards to keep getting profit, all their old mining hardware will be useless since there is no one that can use it anymore. Thus meaning that the left over mining cards will just be thrown away.
Personally, this is horrible and I really really hope this never happens.

    Destiny 2
    Warface

    CS:GO
    Valorant
    Apex Legends
    Planetside 2

    I'd definitely recommend Destiny 2.

For a free game it has a vast amount of lore and content, and I think it still looks great.

It also doesn't require a monster pc to run at nice settings.

I actually quite enjoyed Warface, though it is very microtransaction heavy.

Apex is also good fun, and isn't especially pushy about microtransactions...at least from what I remember (haven't been on for a while).

None of the in game purchases are essential in any of them, but progress can feel very slow, particularly in Warface.

Warzone, I'd imagine you know all about that.

I haven't played Planetside 2 for years, but I think it's still up and running with a decent community.

The other two, CS and Valorant, aren't my cup of tea - but from what I understand you don't need to spend money unless you want the gaudy gun skins, cosmetics etc...

P.S If you were prepared to give third person shooters a go there are some good options there too.

LOST TALE reacted to Eigenvektor in Best QOS for gaming? Traditional vs Cake vs per device Bandwith limiter
Games usually shouldn't need that much in terms of bandwidth and are more bound by latency. So prioritizing ACK, SYN and (maybe?) ICMP as well as small packages might help with that.

If two people run into their bandwidth limits I would assume a certain amount of fairness, so both get half the total network bandwidth. As long as packages are prioritized, games should still mostly run fine, even when bandwidth is capped (that's the point of QoS after all). For best performance you'd probably have to analyze what type of packets/ports etc. a game uses to prioritize its particular traffic over say downloads or media streaming (you might also want to give priority to real time stuff like voice chat and/or Skype calls).

    Look into MagicJack or Ooma.

I paid $120 for 5 years ($2/month) of MagicJack to keep my home number hanging around. All I did was pull the source line from the splitter (previously Verizon) and plugged in the new line from the MagicJack adapter and now it feeds the rest of the house just like regular landline service.

No, you just need an internet connection. You can set up the wiring however you want. If you just want to plug in a phone straight into the adapter, that's fine.

Ethernet cable from your modem/router to the MJ, and plug your phone into MJ to make and receive calls. There is a MJ app for your cellphone that uses wifi connection. Works very good, I've had MJack for about 6 years. And the call quality is excellent, Free calls US and Canada.

LOST TALE reacted to schizznick in Does smart connect switch back to 2.4ghz when 5ghz is too far to be faster?
I would add that even with Band Steering, the client device decides which WiFi to connect to, also the Client would need to support band steering for it to even work. Otherwise all the router does is try and fake out the device to force it to switch but again it's up to the client device and some devices can be rather sticky and not switch no matter how hard the AP tries.

I would have to very much disagree with you. I have both a 4k monitor and a 1080p 360hz monitor and honestly the 360hz monitor is better for playing most games 99% of the time. Sure 4k is nice and pretty but I would much prefer having an experience where it is much more fluid. I have never had issues making out details on my 360hz monitor especially because it's so fluid that you can pick on any motion so much easier and you don't feel like you eyes are seeing a sideshow because honestly 60 fps 4k is basically a sideshow compared to 1080p 360hz.

CPUs take power from the 12V rail, C850/Focus GX 850 is rated as 840W on the 12V rail. HDDs power consumption are low (~20w), and they take power from the 5V and 12V rails.

LOST TALE reacted to Elisis in What are the risks of running a poor/old PSU
There are so few 9 year old PSUs that are good in any way today, and HCG620M was not good even at release. It's just some ancient Seasonic shit. There are also the risks involved with running a component three times its warranty period.

old might not matter too much, so long its golden for use. Like no dust in it, and it might not perform as good compared to some newer models.
But if it's a poor or bad PSU, then be careful. From creating fires or the like, something you would need to watch out for damaged or very cheap PSUs.
So you don't leave with the power on, with it running while being away.

MIght as well try it. I have found games to have no noticable load time difference, but will use about 10-40% less disk space.

CPUs can compress and de compress data very fast now, normally faster than the ssd can read or write the data.

Random IO is a bit worse due to how NTFS does compression, so 64k(i think) of data needs to be read for any random read.
