reptileexperts got a reaction from filippalfi in 2060 or 1070 SLI?
There were not a lot of issues with 1070 SLI if youre familiar with it, and it is quite powerful. I went from 970 SLI to 1070SLI and now I'm with a 2080 debating on SLI . . . 1070 SLI scaled well for me in most things, but of course there were many instances where scaling was subpar. Your answer will be based on what games you play. 1070 SLI with good scaling will destroy a 2060. With perfect scaling its just behind a 2080 when all cards are overclocked.
That being said, SLI support is not found as much in newer titles so you will have issues. This is keeping me from 2080 SLI since all the data tends to suggest that there is no support at current. If the support starts coming back, I'd SLI again.

reptileexperts reacted to .Apex. in 8600k High temps even at base speeds
@Firenze
stock settings overvolt the CPU really high, which is really damn stupid
when i got my 8700K on my Hyper 212 EVO it was hitting 100C under load, but when i set the voltage manually on stock, it went down to around 60C.
check your voltage under load, maybe its hitting 1.3V or something stupid like that, it should be around 1.1V

reptileexperts reacted to Benjeh in 8700k Delid, did you seal it back?
There's no need to reseal, the socket will hold the lid on, if you don't reseal it correctly you can indeed lift the ihs slightly and get bad temps, I've had no issues with LM shifting on my delid or my gpu either.
also loving the name!

reptileexperts reacted to Ebony Falcon in 8700k Delid, did you seal it back?
I resealed mine, on the inside where the ihs goes up put some in the corners so the ihs still sits flush

I mean it'll spread, but as long as its warm you can suck up excess / re spread / rinse repeat as needed to my best understanding. Tonight will tell

reptileexperts got a reaction from iMachine7 in I9 9900k, where are all the chips?
As far as I can see very very few people were able to get hands on this chip today. Retail stores I checked had 0 stock in as of today. I preordered on amazon by noon on the day it was announced (October 8th) and have zero updates from amazon other than it’s available but sold out while my account shows the boiler point we don’t have an estimate for this product.
Has as anyone received at least tracking information or a chip at this point?

reptileexperts got a reaction from TopHatProductions115 in October 4th Nvidia Update - Lowers performance
yes. It's more of a stab at a joke, Nvidia isn't doing it either - they still support driver updates for the 6 and 7 series... and the iPhone 6s plus is still the most recommended iPhone

reptileexperts got a reaction from PlayStation 2 in [US][BestBuy] Alienware 34" 1440p Gsync 120hz, 829.99

This is a beast monitor for a very reasonable price. The IPS monitor, in my case, had 0 light bleed that was noticeable on a fully black screen. The OC works as expected and there is no flickering issues with my unit at 120hz. Only issue I have had in the last 10 months of owning one is last week gray lines appeared across the entire display showing a capacitor failure. I notified dell, and 3 days later a new unit arrived at my house and I shipped the other back. Their 3 year warranty is phenomenal in this respect. Unless you go with a 4k 144hz $2,000 27" panel. This is the best monitor on the market, in my opinion. This price is the lowest advertised price I've ever seen on this unit!

reptileexperts got a reaction from Darkseth in 2080 Overclock Snapshots
Or an adult with a full time career. I also parted out my 1070 SLI to generate funds to grab a second later on if I feel it’s needed. Anyone can afford anything if they want it bad enough. Savings, working extra hours, side hustle, etc. same logic I give folks who say they can’t travel due to cost.

reptileexperts got a reaction from Darkseth in 2080 Overclock Snapshots
Sure. Once I get some spare time later this week. May have a little bit this evening I can attempt. I saw reddit threads on folks getting higher boosts at lower voltages by altering the curves so it was on the radar.

reptileexperts got a reaction from Frankenburger in gtx 1070 SLI or "trash" 1 for gtx 1080TI
Most SLI USERS will defend it. Most non SLI users will call it trash because they have not tried it recently, or did not devote the time to learn it.
SLI Is a beast but with limitations. You may have to tweak your nvidia profiles to get some games to work, you may deal with higher temps rising quicker. Screen stuttering may be a real issue. Having said that, my 1070 SLI system beats out a 1080ti in most of my situations. There are some instances that it wont, i.e. poorly optimized. etc. In those cases a 1080ti would win.
Having said this, I am waiting for my 2080 ti to arrive (estimate friday) to replace my 1070 strix SLI combo, and when prices become reasonable, add a second 2080 ti If needed later on.
