I have had to RMA two 780s since updating to the latest nvidia drivers(the second one I'm pretty sure MSI just sent me a defective card, but I tried the latest geforce driver when testing so you never know), and the first was straight up bricked after 5 minutes of playing the Division on the original game ready driver @ stock settings, fans ramped to 100%, not detected by multiple motherboards, tried multiple PSUs and fresh installs, neither bios' on the card worked(MSI lightning card).

It's not a giant case as a skeleton. That's just what was made with the pieces in that picture. What you get is a box of parts and you build it into what ever shape/size you want.

The "wires everywhere" is only an issue if you put no effort into being creative with your cable management.

You could tie them to the struts or what looks like the hard drive mounts, but obviously it wouldn't be as easy as cramming them behind the mobo tray

I'm not a fan of ubisoft but if they get bought by vivendi, you would wish for the current ubisoft to be back.

Vivendi have a track record of destroying companies inside and out, there is a reason why ubisoft don't want to be bought by them.

Not necessarily, if you had 8GB then a demanding game might get you close to the max. At that point the OS will start using pagefiling more, this could impact performance and/or loading times.
Currently I am not playing any games, I have chrome open with 3 tabs + 1 "new tab" (not on a website). Besides that I have steam and Avast running. I have 3.7GB of RAM used. If the game uses ~4GB then I would be at ~7.7GB. If I had 8GB of RAM I would have a bit of an issue at that point.
They might have just went with 16GB because the next most common amount of RAM users have is 16GB.

Panda689 got a reaction from Deaverl in Buy an old Macbook and upgrade to SSD.
I have a mid-2009 13" MBP and it still works fine for web browsing, 720p youtube playback(1080p noticeably drops frames) and general computing.

Something that you MUST check before getting one is the ram, mine came with 2GB, which basically made it unusable in Yosemite(or EL for that matter it stutters, freezes loading certain things and is just slow in general), but after I upgraded to 8GB it works great.

The problem is that not all ram is compatible with these earlier MB and MBP so get Corsair's mac memory(roughly $70CAD for th 8GB kit if you can still find it), this doesn't apply to some of the newer models w/ upgradable RAM AFAIK. If you go 2008, then you're in DDR2 era with max support of 4GB, 2007 and you are at max 2GB support, so I really wouldn't go older then 2009.

Another thing is that these old MBP have old batteries so you might need to replace it. Anker makes them and I replaced mine for $80CAD off amazon.ca(It couldn't hold a charge idling for more then an hour).

Something else is that since the older ones only have DP1.1 or mini-DVI, so there is no audio over DP/HDMI.

I use the stock HDD but an SSD would be a nice upgrade(specifically for boot/wake times), but since OSX caches a lot of stuff, RAM should be the first upgrade.

That means you're going to be paying around $150+ in upgrades(more if you want an SSD as well), so I would only recommend it if you can find one for under 200 or for free(like mine was), otherwise save up some more and get a better windows laptop.

Panda689 got a reaction from Starwind in PC Gaming with a 4k TV
You guessed it, input latency, TV class displays were never intended for super low latency so even on the "Game Mode" setting they usually experience lag in the 15-30ms range(even more for some) but if you don't play a lot of twitch shooters or you play with a gamepad you might not find the experience that jarring, I can play fallout 4 w/ an Xbone controller on my TV comfortably but trying to play CSGO with m+kb is unplayable IMO.

I would replace the thermal compound.
I have an H100i and replaced the compound today, and i discovered almost 50% of it got dry and it didn't look great...
Temps went down 5°C (could also have to do with the dust that was in the rad :p) and the temp difference between cores also went down.
But your temps are quite high, which isn't really a suprise.
I mean 1.38V is quite a lot, with an AIO liquid cooler it's usually a good idea to limit the voltage to 1.35V
And 4.8Ghz is also quite a lot, it is nice you can reach such speeds, but it does cause a lot of extra heat.
I would turn it down and replace thermal compound if you can.

Panda689 reacted to W-L in Dramatic differences in core temps.
Don't use auto overclocks they overdo the voltage almost all the time. It sounds like your may have gotten the short end of the stick with the silicon lottery if your 4790K needs that much voltage to hit 4.8GHz unfortunately.

I don't understand not allowing skins that don't exist or that aren't in your inventory. So what if someone wants a dlore or butterfly slaughter in a community server, how does that ruin anyone else experience? Its not like they can use them in valve servers, and I doubt esea/cevo/faceit allows them either.(I don't play on any them so I don't know for sure)
