What's your computer's name? And no, I don't mean the model. What did you name it (if anything)? What do you think of naming computers? Some people name their cars or houses, so why not your gaming rig?

I just called mine 'Sia', and for no particular reason other than that I like the singer of the same name.

 

Giving my computer a name gives it an identity because I was the one who built it, it gives the PC that personal touch, just like anything else a person may name.

Charlotte. It used to be in a Rosewill Redbone case, and I just thought the name went with it at the time. And if it ain't broke, don't fix it (the case itself was broke though, dropped by TSA)

So do most Linux distros. And I think OSX as well.

 

And I believe those three default to user name followed by computer/mainboard model. Windows just does user name's PC.

I named the computer I'm currently building, Roisin Dearg (Row-sheen Dare-ugh; Irish Gaelic for, literally, Rose Red), only because of the build log. I never named my desktop computers before this one. I did name two of my notebooks Notebook 1 and Notebook 2 but only to make keeping track of them easier. I have always named my vehicles, though. My current vehicle, an F150 Screw is named Saoirse (Irish for freed or freedom: I named her after a horse in a series of books I read). I also named the cute little 4" combination square I got a year or two back Baby.

 

I don't care whether people name their computers (or anything else, for that matter) or not; it's a personbal choice if they do or not. I see nothing wrong with it. I do have a problem with narrow minded people who criticize other people for doing so or not doing so.
