We want an app for LTT Forum

I think we should have a linus tech tips forum app because it would be very easy to get into the forum and discuss tech related content, because i can't be near my desktop everytime and also don't ask about chrome in smartphone, It is not good. How many people want LTT FORUM APP IN ANDROID

yeah no

This has been asked plenty of times on the forum suggestions and it's always the same answer. Frankly I could care-less about an app for a forum.

The mobile website is fine for me. LTT used to support a forum app of some sort, I forget what it was called but it sucked majorly

Agreed.

Besides if you wish to use the forum on the go, use Chrome for Android & the mobile version of the website.

It works great on most screen sizes & looks pretty slick imho.

When the PC is acting up haunted,

who ya gonna call?

inb4 the lock lol

But this, although I think the mobile site is very good fwiw

I've seen far worse mobile sites so by far they did a really good job with it.

If OP wants a dedicated button to launch the website for the forum on iOS and Android there's a way to do that I believe.

If you don't know how to add a website to the home screen for Android this is how you do it

Screenshot_20180819-021335_Chrome.thumb.jpg.2fa3c81de59fab53989bce49d2f4333b.jpg

Hit add to home screen then this'll pop up

Then you're set. Do it for the main page though lol

Literally wouldn't be a difference lol

I couldn't think of any better mobile UI for a forum than this, maybe there's better UIs out there. I haven't tried reddit's mobile app and have no interest to but again as is, LTTs mobile site is fine lol

Only if it been done nicely, I am no app developer, but I had use many forum app that didn't work, and I can imagine making an reliable app for different devices will not be easy.

Moreover, making an app that works isn't cheap, so I can totally understand why LMG is not going to invest into it when the forum is not expected to make profit for them. After all, the mobile web version works.

New month, new App thread. Maybe a sticky (a more stickier sticky) would be beneficial.

We all know the App would most likely be a browser window, so just set your browser to full screen and off you go. Exactly the same as how the App would behave.

The LTT forum is made to scale near perfectly on mobile devices though?
Did you run into any issues when using a mobile device and chrome ? I've used my phone to access the forum a few times and honestly it's nearly identical to the "desktop experience" for me.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700x / GPU: Asus Radeon RX 6750XT OC 12GB / RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4-3200
MOBO: MSI B450m Gaming Plus / NVME: Corsair MP510 240GB / Case: TT Core v21 / PSU: Seasonic 750W / OS: Win 10 Pro

The forum on mobile, and desktop devices, regardless of the screen resolution, is already flawless. The app will just cost LMG more as they don't get revenue from the forum, meaning they have no point in making an app.

hi.

That is achieved with caching. So app will take more time to launch initially, it uses more space on device to store images and such, and more RAM and mobile data to keep it up to date.

If you don't like Chrome, there are other browsers. I'm writing this on my tablet. With Firefox for Android and SwiftKey.

Tapatalk used to support this forum, tough that sucked badly.

Frankly, the mobile site on chrome for mobile is the best forum experience I've ever had in a phone. Even when compared to dedicated apps.

So yeah, as long as the mobile site will be sufficient for most people, the app ain't happening. :P

why tho? the mobile site is great. lots of work has been put in and it works well with the added benefits of not taking up space and opening links faster and in the same app

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)
