Would you buy TVs made by Apple?

Maybe I will buy an Apple TV, but it will depend on the reviews and price value. If it's too much from my expected price compared to other high-end TVs, probably Not. Also, most Televisions nowadays offers great resolution and performance that also offers free channels. So, right now I will consider buying normal TVs.

I won't touch Apple now I've learned how much they have no moral or ethical spine. Not just the latest tech news with repairs and thermal throttling but I just learned that their new headquarters is worth 6.8 Billion dollars yet they are claiming it is only worth 57 million to skimp on tax. Such a huge wealthy company committing blatant daylight robbery through loopholes is blood curdling.

I just picture a TV with 0 ports, save for the one or two USB-Cs. So you have to buy this box/dongle separately for $200 so that you can plug things into your TV. But hey! Your TV is razor thin! And it has Apple TV built in. So you can still watch Netflix, Hulu or what have you...But heaven forbid you hookup a console or laptop! 

 

Eh...I just can’t get hyped for TVs. Even the cheapest TV (which I have) can give a satisfactory 720p experience with slightly washed out colours. 36 inches is also on the smaller side but if you sit < 3 meters away it’s fine (I have a small living room anyway). It’s just so hard to ask for more. You just get used to whatever you have. I think that it’s borderline comical how TVs are reviewed these days since everything is good or incrementally better. So reviewers rely contrast and RGB accuracy measurements that are so painfully precise. And yes, one TV can be noticeably better than another one if you compare the two screens side by side. But you typically use one TV at a time and your eyes/brain adjust to whatever you have.

Wouldn't be surprised if a TV made by Apple would just die randomly from some kind of stupid issue like them using a low quality capacitor in there. Only to be put down by the fanatics of the Apple cult, saying you were obviously using it wrong.

 

They can make their devices as pretty as they want, but form over function is never a good idea.

 

Would also not be surprised if they made/used their own proprietary connector for the TV, requiring everyone to buy a super expensive HDMI dongle or wait until cable box manufacturers release Apple TV certified boxes... ugh. It hurts just writing that.

Building HTPC?

Yeah they can be a pain, especially mini itx. I usually listen to music from my phone or have a mate with me, so I don't feel the heavy task weighing me down.

Kodi sucks.

Android x86 isn't exactly stable on alot of hardware.

W10 Tablet mode still doesn't support Xbix Controllers.

No. There isn't enough special technology to bring to it so justify going with Apple. An Apple TV already does everything I need

I already like Apple's color calibration on the iPhone X so I wouldn't be surprised if color calibration is also good in their Apple TV with display. Another thing Apple can improve is sound. If Apple can manage to put good speakers with Dolby Atmos without the need of an external sound bar, it will set up a bar to other TVs. My only concern is the ecosystem support. I don't think Apple will allow other phones and tablets to be mirrored to the Apple TV using AirPlay.

Sometimes I like to throw YouTube on it and kick back, eat food, and watch YouTube.

 

Similar to couch gaming vs desk gaming, it's the same basic principle. Occasionally I like to kick back and watch stuff on my TV instead of my PC.

Honestly though, I doubt Apple is going to make a complete TV display set. 

 

The reason is that people very seldom upgrade their TVs, only doing so when they break down eventually. 

 

Streaming boxes, on the other hand, can be quite popular, hence why Apple still sells the Apple TV STB. I used to have one and it worked well for my old Sharp Aquos. 

 

Alas, that Apple TV (along with the Aquos and everything else hooked up to it) died to lightning. Had the TV replaced with an LG webOS TV. Didn't really replace the Apple TV.

My TV comes with WebOS 3 (LG) so I fail to see how offerings from Apple could do something better. It's really awesome actually, I even use a CI+ card because the interface and features are really nice.

They will have proprietary connectors and the adaptors to standard cables will be horrendously expensive. They will also make sure that they force TV companies to pay them 30% i orderto allow the TV to show their channels.
