Also SansVarnic, in the Preferences -> Edit PrimeGrid Preferences there are a whole slew of sub projects which can be ticked on/off.

Apparently the best bang for the buck is  -> Subproject Seive -> Proth Prime Search Sieve (PPS-Sieve)

You can't unselect -> Generalized Cullen/Woodall Sieve (GCW-Sieve) but it might be handy to deselect any other subproject options which don't have such good point returns.

Squeezed a little extra out of the V64's memory speed. Not much but applies over 3 cards.

Ain't that the truth.  :P

Anyway, the 1900X hauling butt.

If wondering, OS is Mint Mate on the latest kernel release for it.  Can't wait for the new LTS release for it.  Got the Ubuntu Mate on the Xeon rig and dig some of the new features (still tweaking its GUI).  Hope they can put that live patching feature into Mint.  Woooo!  Would love to minimize my reboots through out the year.

So I decided trying to update my nvidia driver (which worked fine.) and reopened the log after reboot and found the line saying "CUDA: NVIDIA GPU 1 (not used) GeForce GTX 670...." and also said "OpenCL: NVIDIA GPU 1 (ignored by config)...." etc. Any ideas as to where in the config I may have messed up and accidentally set that or something. @zzrhardy

Yep, main reason I water cool my GPUs.  I'm not super fond of running GPUs that high in temps.

On the other hand, the 1900X is doing fairly well with an air cooler.  No OC yet though, so the temps could go up higher once I do that.  Need to check to see how the Xeon is on temps.

There is an option for an  <exclude_gpu> tag  in the cc_config.xml file. The Berkely Client Config instructions have this to say about it:

<exclude_gpu>
Don't use the given GPU for the given project. If <device_num> is not specified, exclude all GPUs of the given type. <type> is required if your computer has more than one type of GPU; otherwise it can be omitted. <app> specifies the short name of an application (i.e. the <name> element within the <app> element in client_state.xml). If specified, only tasks for that app are excluded. You may include multiple <exclude_gpu> elements. If you change GPU exclusions, you must restart the BOINC client for these changes to take effect. If you want to exclude the GPU use for all projects, look at the <ignore_ati_dev>, <ignore_nvidia_dev> and <ignore_intel_dev> options further down. Requires a client restart.
<exclude_gpu>
   <url>project_URL</url>
   [<device_num>N</device_num>]
   [<type>NVIDIA|ATI|intel_gpu</type>]
   [<app>appname</app>]
</exclude_gpu>

It might be worth checking this setting.

Wait, you updated to the 397.31?

No I'm on 397.64. others have said it was stable.

Hmmm, like zzrhardy said then.  Check the cc_config file to see if somehow that exclude tag got added.

Couple of things:

You don't have a problem with you extraneous cc_config.xml file settings as you don't have one - so no funky settings turning off individual GPU. That is good.

You have a 2C/2T CPU with 4GB ram though, of which 2GB can be used by BOINC and your running both Primegrid and Numberfields. I am thinking you might be triggering some CPU capacity issue, especially if trying to run CPU WU also. Have you tried suspending Numberfields and restarting BOINC? Also, have you tried disabling "use CPU" units in the Edit PrimeGrid Preferences so as to attempt to process only with GPUs?

On my own systems, each GPU can default to using anywhere from 0.17 to 0.75 CPU threads depending on the GPU/Projects. And that is 1700X and 1950X threads.

Chibineko (stats in sig) just hit 10th position on the Top Computers for PrimeGrid :)

That should climb further also as it hasn't had a full period of RAC yet.

You can't unselect -> Generalized Cullen/Woodall Sieve (GCW-Sieve) but it might be handy to deselect any other subproject options which don't have such good point returns.

I'm guessing this is a feature where you have to select any one CPU project. You can't deselect all projects under CPU. However, if you say at the top not to run CPU tasks, it wont run them anyway.

Nice. Although I'm long term on Primegrid, that's one leaderboard I'm unlikely to join any time as I'm all CPU... the actual prime testing is mostly CPU intensive and boinc credit is less generous as the ultimate reward is finding a fat prime number.

I have since found out that you can't unselect the "CPU GCW-Sieve" unless you have "Use CPU" unticked in the project preferences. After that you can.

Ok, sounds like things have changed, but if you're not using CPU it doesn't matter if you have CPU projects selected. It isn't necessarily clear, but turning off CPU for the project is the way to do it, not deselecting all CPU projects. I think it was a boinc server limitation.

Managed to resurrect an ancient i7 860 with a 1050Ti added, and that has been thrown into the mix. So that is two obsolete boxes with 1050Tis in addition to the two mains.

Also the monitor for my main systems died, won't even bring up an OSD, and the monitors on these old obsolete boxes don't have HDMI or Displayport. Still, the two mains are going strong, just running headless.

In the meantime I am using a crusty ass i7 3770 with 8GB of ram as a new temporary main... even web browsing is like watching ants paint the pixels :(

Ordering in a "LG 32UD99-W 4K UHD IPS LED Monitor with HDR10" as a replacement, but this is Australia so it will take a week or two to arrive.
