oh i now see what i was doing wrong

i was confusing "CPU time %" with "CPU usage %"

i had CPU time % lowered but that makes it pause every few seconds

what i meant to change was max CPU usage %

i now changed it and it now stays the same

I am running a system with a GTX 1070, and my CPU is an i7 6700K. As per now, I'm putting CPU power on Rosetta and NumberFields.

Also, doing PrimeGrid for credits (I'm new to Boinc).

My CPU is overclocked to 4.5 GHz, but is there any point of doing so when doing tasks, or does it give me a noticeable difference in computing speed?

Furthermore, I really want to help out where it is needed. I will continue doing GPU tasks (only CUDA ones) with PrimeGrid, but is there anything I should change to do the CPU tasks more efficient?

And is there anything else than joining the LinusTechTips_Team I need to do to contribute to the Penthalon contest?

Secondly nope, all you need is to be crunching and on the LTT team. At the moment your good with your CPU but I'm posting if I think we need to change tactic so don't forget to follow the thread!

Have temporarily switched my PG to LTT team and will do tasks on rolling start. I know it's not as good as bunkering but I don't have time to set that up. Will look at refinements in morning.

CPUs are already heavy on rosetta. GPUs are additional on PG.

We can gain 3 more overall points by pushing just a little harder on sprint(rosetta@home). For some reason my points are not going to the team so I can't drop my 20 threads on it unfortunately. We just need that bit more.

I experience that Rosetta is much slower to crunch than other CPU projects, like for example NumberFields. With both started at the same time, NumberFields has three times more credit than Rosetta, on a 50/50 config.

I have not made adjustments to the application preferences on those projects, so I think I just receive some default subprojects. Are there anyone else that shares my experiences?

I've been having a similar issue. I'll see that my tasks are completing, but it's still showing 0 points for my main PC.

I've just set NNW on CPU. Too hot today. Will let GPUs go for now and see how I tolerate that...

Got the two 1700X systems going again. One is 50/50 Rosetta/NumberFields. The other is 100% Rosetta.

The chances of us losing a position in rosetta in the next 3-4 hours that we can actually do much about isnt high. if someone bunkers we cant do shit, can you get those cores working on asteroid instead? keep the marathon stuff but get your Rosetta threads on that instead if you can?

Back in 10th in PrimeGrid. Someone in Rechenkraft team had dropped a 2M bunker last night to push us to 11th, but we managed to claw ahead again

 

Edit: nevermind, we are still trading blows and looks like they are kicking up a gear. Back to 11th place.

I currently have 28 threads, a 6GB1060, and 10 ARM cores on asteroid, and 16 threads on numberfields, at least for tonight. 

 

I may end up having to drop drop both the 1700X PCs again tomorrow. That'll bring me down to 4 X86, the 1060, and the ARM cores on Asteroid (my laptop, tablet, and phone), and 8 threads on Numberfields tomorrow.(My 1500X PC)

We have been continuing to lose ground to 10th spot in Primegrid, not by a lot but it has been steady today. If we want to regain it we will need to find some extra GPU oomph.

 

But if we are happy with 11th spot then we currently have a half decent grasp on it... for the moment.

@Whiskers any chance you can help out? I know you are the folding team leader but maybe you have a spare GPU or two laying about?

I note Asteroids work isn't always available... maybe they're getting hit harder by the challenge than they allowed for. So if you want to run that, consider either increasing cache or set an alternative project as backup. I have numberfields set to zero share which boinc will only use if it can't get work from other projects. For how I run my systems I prefer zero cache.
