Read on a forum that it was the best for running multiple units on Vega. Not sure if it is true but I get 3 units every 4-6 mins or so. CUDA sieve is the way to go though.

Sigh, I hate this 2400G already... Is the iGPU meant to work with Radeon software?

Their APUs use a different branch of the Radeon software than the desktop GPUs.

I really wish we could ping everyone who folds for us to keep on here, imagine even 25% of the teams folding power running PPS. It would be mental.

Maybe next year for the event the participation can get planned out a bit more.

I hope to have my HTML skills back up to par so I can run a side site to help track participates for the team during such events.

Be good if they had better events also. Only one effectively used GPU and another was run off a potato.

One of the rules is no previous project from last year can be voted for the next year.  Kind of why some small projects sometimes get voted in.

 

WCG was done last year and GPUGrid as well.

I don't mind small projects being voted if they have enough potatoes as servers to validate all the WUs.

I did throw a few GFN16 units through to see how they did... credit wise, not good. On RX580, Vega 56, 980ti, PPS Sieve gave about 10x, 9x, 16x more credit per time respectively. Note I was only running a single unit of each, if GFN stacks better than sieve maybe the gap could be narrower. I did one GFN17low unit too, slightly better than GFN16 but still no. Oh, it is known for smaller GFN units to not be able to use as much of the GPU as possible, and bigger ones scale to use more GPU. I wouldn't want to run long units close to the end though as the chances of validating in time are lower.

 

Hate to admit it, I found out after I got to work yesterday I forgot to re-start sieve on my fastest GPU, as I had temporarily turned it off while I was doing other things. Wont make that mistake today.

Hmm interesting, I'm running GFN15. Maybe I'll make the switch later if I have time. Still trying to get this Vega iGPU working.

One of the major teams opened up with 100M points of pre-processed GFN 22. That can take weeks to validate apparently but they had a very good run, with a large percentage going through right away. They probably guessed right ahead of time that Primegrid was in and  bunkered some pre-aged work units.

 

Risky strategy and impossible to emulate once the contest started, but it paid off for them.

I'll see how my house is doing for heat. It might be more power efficient for me to put on more CPUs instead of leaving GPUs running. I'm nowhere near running at peak capacity.

Hell, if your have CPUs Laying around its probably better to bring more of those online. Unfortunately I only have the 4 CPUs.

Yup, can put the 1050ti's and the Vegas on it. The V's will have nothing to do on the last day tho.
