Depends. Some threads just never die. If you see the message "This thread is quite old. Please consider making a new thread", then you shouldn't post there.

So if the OP of a build log posts an "update" for a build log, 5 years later, it would be fine?

Nah, I think its more about different mods being on at different times. I mean, generally when I check active users at 8am-12pm~ (my time), I never see more than one or two active mods/admins and very often, zero mods/admins being online.

Not really no, I just looked at the last 25 warnings and I only issued 3 .. and that's pretty much the average, 3-4 warnings per mods out of 25.

No the boots on the ground. In random chats with former members of LTT I've gathered that one mod does at least 50% of all moderation.

Well this thread got serious really quickly.

But meh, the only thing i'd be the slightest upset about is mods openly discussing warnings its like there aren't any mods to mod the mods. Though the blanket statement thing,idk the CS is so vague in some aspects. People still throw around the word "fanboy" or derail a thread into brand A vs. B war and it doesn't get fixed until 2-3 pages later. Someone posted the old rules page and I read the whole thing some of the rules should have stayed even the obvious thread necro one.

No, they're admins. Mod queen would be mostly a figure head. They also get to formally and ceremoniously knight new mods.

Well the thing is, if nobody reports a post on the thread, its highly likely no moderator would visit the thread  and even when it does get reported, it gets added to the very back of the queue of reports they need to go through plus its possible no mods are active (as of that period of time) so unless someone 'force feeds' the thread to an active mod, they can't deal with it that quickly.

Agreed as some rules should be added back IMO however, I personally also think its fine as it does state the most important/relevant/most-offended rules which should be enough plus it allows the post to be considerably shorter, which may promote more users to read them.

We don't moderate each other, that's what the admins are there for.

 

As for openly discussing moderation, we don't normally do it, unless the member keeps posting about it even when he was told not to, though technically we could issue another warning about it since it's 2 violations (1- talking openly about moderation 2- not complying with staff instructions). There's also the fact that he refuse to communicate in PM ... So yeah.

 

The problem with fanboy accusations, or any other CS violations is the community itself, while we would like to, we can't read each and every reply that is posted, so we rely on members reporting violations, if it goes unreported and that no mods visit the thread, chances are it's never going to be dealt with.

 

I myself discovered people insulting each other in a year old thread when I was searching for something, it went unreported so the replies were never removed and the members never were sanctioned.

If you have a complaint, concern or question about any moderator action that has been taken against you, please send a PM to me, @Whiskers and/or the moderator in question, and we will gladly discuss it. All complaints about moderation that I have been made aware of have either been completely unfounded or the result of misunderstandings or miscommunication, but if there was a case of moderator abuse then we would consider that to be a serious problem, and deal with it accordingly.

 

Complaining about moderation in the open forum is not permitted, as laid out in the Community Standards, because the vast majority of the time the facts have been twisted so far that it just serves to build resentment, without actually discussing a valid problem.

 

As such, please refrain from discussing moderation in this topic from now on (regardless of what you have to say on the matter), otherwise I will lock it. Feel free to continue shitposting about the rules about becoming a mod, or whatever else has been going on in this topic, but no more discussing moderator actions. Please do PM me if you have anything to say though.

 

For the record, the main factor for becoming a moderator is whether we think you would make a good moderator - everything else is just a heuristic for deciding that.
