Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

Taken about 1 month after the purchase.

Owner now for about 3-4 months.

Noticed that on cold-starts the engine is less responsive and driving experience is not as good.

Usually it smooths out as the the car get warmer.

Nice color... are those aftermarket rims?

and I think the cold-start thing is a common problem for most engines... (I idle my engine for a bit before I leave) (I could be completely wrong on this though)

Bahahaha. It's true.

Most engines should be warmed up from cold (in actual cold weather not just a "cold start") before they reach their efficiency.

Yeah 19" rims with summer tires.

Have another set of tires and rims which I am currently using. Stock rims at 18" with whole year tires.

One thing I noticed though, the front rims are way dirtier than the ones on the rear.

Is it because of the steering?

Brake dust I assume because the front brakes take more abuse than the rears.

My local police department just ordered 10 Ford F150s and 10 Chevy Silverados. I'm assuming for unmarked cars for the country side. Anyone else know of police departments that use pickup trucks?

The El Paso Police Department and our Sheriffs Department has F-150s, and of course, the Border Patrol does have quite a few Raptors..

Border patrol I knew of, but don't see them as a police department.

It kinda counts, they sort of act like a police department, somewhat similar jurisdictions I think.

I think every department has a few trucks in the fleet, regardless of whether they are on active patrol or not. There just isn't a replacement for the utility they can give you; north of the border, (at least in Ontario) the various forces prefer the Tahoe and both Ford interceptor offerings but you do still see some light-duty trucks out and about..

My local PD uses SUVs for utility scenarios. But they just got new SUVs, so I'm thinking the pickups are for patrol duty

Kinda. I've always seen border patrol more similar to the FBI than anything else

Ooh. Mini trucks. One of those would be cool. But I want good gas mileage and the ability to add subs easily. So car it is for me next year

My local PD has quite a few pickups, both Chevy and Ford. The majority of the patrol vehicles are Ecoboost Explorers.

Around here the majority of patrols are Chevy impalas and Dodge Chargers. Our local PD actually never used the Crown Vic, they went from the Caprice to the Impala

The Fargo PD used Chargers for a year or two, then sold them all and went to Explorers. I have two friends in the PD and neither of them really know why, they made the sudden change.

Interesting that your PD never used the Crown Vic, I saw an article in C&D probably 5 years ago that said something like 90% of the patrol cars in the US were CV's. Almost complete saturation.

City PD never used them, made me kinda sad. But all the cities around me did, including county and I believe state troopers did.

I looked at a few retired Vics for a first car when I was in HS. They looked great from 20 ft, but once you got closer, not so much. My local PD would literally sheet rock screw the radios and other stuff to the dash, so when they took it all out there were holes in the dash all over the place.

They would still make for a decent first car since most of them had about 50k-75k on them, but they have their cosmetic issues.

I dunno about you, but I'd spray it seven different colors of yellow to annoy people on purpose.

I love how slammed cars look, but would never daily a slammed car. Too much form, not enough function.

But his current daily is slammed, so he's used to it
